COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A black ale that puts the flavor of the malt front and center. It has a mild hop character that balances strong notes of cocoa and hints of coffee. A full-bodied treat that pairs well with chocolate as well as fresh shellfish.

At Gingerman NYC with Taylor. Pours black no head. Aroma is muted with some tire rubber. Taste is bi nasty rubber with some tree bark and paper bag, roasted malt. Finish is not quick enough.

Tap pour. Dark brown, almost black, with solid finger and half of beige head. Very chocolaty aroma with minimal presentation of roasted malts. Inviting. Taste pulls in the chocolate from the nose. Nice balance between bitter and sweet. Average mouthfeel.

1/2 liter mug draft at the Biergarten in terminal C of LaGuardia airport in New York City. The pour is a hazed black brown with a small khaki head. The aroma is soft roast along with a bit of honey sweet malt. The taste is simple straight forward malt roast and sweet, clean and tasty. The palate is medium to light bodied with soft carbonation and a clean sweet malt finish.

On draught at Fette Sau. The beer is a brownish-black color with a medium creamy tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, chocolate and coffee. Light-bodied with flavors of roast malt, sweet chocolate and mild coffee. The finish is sweet with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draught@RNH. Dark, almost opaque brown color, good creamy beige head. Milky and chocolate aroma, light note of soya sauce. Light to medium bodied. Chocolaty and milky front, some caramel, low bitterness and short finish. Good taste but kind of empty. Perhaps with right food this is better.

A nice roasted aroma, some decent dark chocolate as well. Can be treated as a session as its pretty mild and watery. Tried in NYC in 2013.

Green point black duck porter: Small head, light brown color. Flavor is ashy, light brown bread, mineral. Mouthfeel a bit watery. OK, but not much going on.

Draught at Rattle 6 Hum NYC 2012. Dark brown/black beer with a tanned small head. Coffee, choclate and tar aroma. Similar flavour but sadly a thin beer...
