COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A black ale that puts the flavor of the malt front and center. It has a mild hop character that balances strong notes of cocoa and hints of coffee. A full-bodied treat that pairs well with chocolate as well as fresh shellfish.

Got in a BIF from beerloserLI. 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly crystal clear very dark brown color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, dark bread, light coffee, herbal, light dark fruit, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity/earthy yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, dark bread, light coffee, herbal, light dark fruit, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, dark bread, light coffee, herbal, light dark fruit, and yeast/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic robustness, balance, and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity/earthy yeast flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and slightly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is an awesome English porter style. All around great robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity/earthy yeast flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Roasted malt and mild sweet lactose like aroma. Taste is a smooth roasted malt Porter with a slight sweet finish. Has a bit of a bitter cocoa like finish. Maybe a bit light palate. Overall pretty nice but nothing spectacular. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Deep brown pour with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and bakers chocolate. Tastes similar with a hint of coffee. Good Porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer has a light toastiness that really makes it stand out in flavor and mouth feel. Not the best I've ever had but pretty good.

Bottle. Moderate to heavy toasted and strong coffee, moderate herbs and resin for the hops, earth for the yeast, with a hint of vanilla in the background. Head is average size, light tan, with fair lacing and is fully lasting. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts slightly sweet and lightly to moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, creamy with a soft carbonation. A perfectly balanced and rich Porter from a Long Island brewery.

On tap at Top Hops, NY, 19/5/2015. Near black with a decent, beige, head. Aroma of chocolate, Belgian yeast and toasted malts. Flavour was sweetish, with more chocolate and a touch of dark fruit, leading to a dryish finish. Enjoyable.

A very enjoyable, easy to drink Porter. Not overly roasty or heavy. Just enough body, but light enough to be very sessionable. Very smooth flavor. A nice weekend afternoon pint.
