Growler from Big Z Beverage. Pours black with a very thin tan head. Aroma of chocolate-covered pretzel, sweet roasted malt, vanilla. Flavor is hot, boozy, with sweet rich roasted malt, chocolate. A hot, messy imperial stout. Maybe could use some age, or less alcohol, or something. It’s alright, but definitely somewhat lacking. Meh, 7/4/6/3/12 [3.2/5]

Tap @ BT w Erica. Near-black pour into snifter. Very small head for the style. Aroma is sweet chocolate. Tastes of sweet, dry, sharp chocolate and cocoa powder. Long set of legs. Pretty average.

Heavy notes of whiskey/bourbon and vanilla. Some soy sauce and a hint and mild coffee backnotes. Little to no carbonation dectectable. Pours a dark brown with a faint mil chocolate colored lacing that only touches the edges off the glass.

On tap @craftsman ale house. Pours pitch black with dark brown frothy head. Light malty aroma, dark roast, strong coffee and hint of chocolate. Medium and smooth mouth feel. Strong coffee roast and chocolate flavor. Long bitter finish. No abv info, but if it’s high, it’s well masked. Like it.

Tap @ Grand Cru in Rhinebeck... Poured near black with a light brown head. Big chalky tones, mild booziness, and hint of smokiness. Nice mouthfeel, coated the tongue. Decent malt sweetness, decadent chocolate, and coffee roast.

Growler filled at Beverage Barn in Valley Stream. Pours deep black with a thin-moderate brown head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and leaves a sheet of film with each sip. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt with notes of chocolate. The flavor is similar and is predominantly roasted malt with a few notes of chocolate. Some mild piney hops at the finish. Just shy of full bodied. A bit of heat from the alcohol at the finish, particularly as the beer warms, but nothing too harsh.

First rating!!! The aroma is roasty, earthy, chocolate, molasses. Mostly roast upfront. The appearance is jet black, light tan head. The flavor is roasty, chocolate, coffee, cream, brown sugar. Medium to medium/thick in body. The finish is roasty, light pine hops. Pretty good, if not a standout in this style.
