COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
From the brewer: Brewing a balanced beer is always a top priority when it comes time for recipe formulation at Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. While Other Side IPA is hop forward as it should be, with nearly 3 pounds of hops per barrel - it also achieves balance. A blend of North American pale, light munich, light crystal and Carapils malts provide a light, malty backbone as foundation for multiple additions of Cascade, Centennial, Chinook and Warrior hops. Hoppy, yet balanced - the sixth brew of our Project Hoppiness series is a nod to the IPAs we love from the other side of the country. Project Hoppiness is GHBC’s project to explore the world of humulus lupulus, the common hop. An ever changing variety of hop forward ales will excite your taste buds with new experiences, none quite like the last. Bringing forth happiness through hoppiness.

12 oz - Nice pour and lace, nose was spot on with malt and hops. Metallic funk in the middle killed it for me.

dark orange pour, 1 finger creamy head that sticks around. looks great! smells really good. piney with some orange and grapefruit. an intense bitterness with some pine. This is a pine bomb I guess. the mouthfeel is good with a pellegrino finish.

Draft @ BCTC, Ommegang Brewery. August, 8, 2015. Clear gold color, steady carbonation. Aroma is mostly grapefruit with light floral hints.

Grapefruit upfront and foremost, zesty hints, light grass. Pretty decent balance with a steady bitterness. End clean, nicely drinkable. I would call this steady.

On tap for lunch with Patty. Pours amber with white head that dissipates quickly. Nose of grapefruit and resin. Quite hoppy mostly of grapefruit, some pine, resin, grass and some herbs. Some bitterness through out.

On tap at Blind Tiger. Really surprisingly nice, had no idea what to expect here. Crisp and clean, nice hop bite.

On tap at the Blind Tiger. Golden pour with a white head. Citrus hop bouquet. Nice citrus hop and caramel malt highlights. Clean and refreshing with a good body and mouthfeel. Solid.

Nose is floral, grapefruit, honey/bready malt, candied lemon. Flavor is same plus some grassy and spicy notes. Really nice delicate balance til the finish which is mildly bitter.

Got in a BIF from beerloserLI. 12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly crystal clear deep golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/piney hops and moderate bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of bright citrus/piney hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky, and slightly creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice standard C hopped IPA. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/piney hops and moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

New Beer Distributors, NYC bottle ($2.25): Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is distinctly tropical fruit, grapefruit, west coast whatever, from the moment that I cracked the cap with my office stapler (really the only reason I keep a stapler next to my computer). Taste is immediately bitter then hits with a touch of sweet and then the bitterness takes back over and lingers deep into the aftertaste. Pretty good, although it is certainly not breaking new grounds. Not as juicy as some west coasters and certainly less malty than the east coasters. Good.

7.5%ABV. American IPA. Clean. Light. Floral citrus nose. Sweet. Malty. Heavy palate. Alcoholic. Bitter all the way to end. Cuts bitter and ends that way. Nice and full enough of the herbaceously bitter hops to be a proper American IPA. Not much else in the way of aroma to make it interesting.
