500 mL bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville, VA. Best before 05 JAU (?) 2012. Pours a dark hazy brown color with a moderate creamy tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is tart, almost bretty with some malty brown sugar notes, berries and something a bit vegetal. Taste is tart cherries, brown sugar and other malty notes and a spicy finish. Medium bodied. Decent beer.

Skunk, light candi sugar, and apple aroma. Clear tea colored, thick light tan head, nice lacing. Stewed apple, lemongrass, and skunk flavor. Not something I would drink again, but if I had to drink only a limited number of gluten free beers, this would provide some welcome variety. Decent, regardless.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Tangy, sharp and fruity. Unusual beer. Refreshing. Some lambic qualities but more nettley!

Hazy amber with light, creamy, beige head / Nose of orchard fruit / Light to medium body, modestly tart, with good balance and light finish / Flavors of apples, wheat, and rice / For a gluten-free, this is pretty good, with a fruity, lambic, quality.

Pouring at Get Real NY. Pours a clear ruby hued amber with a thin to medium sized beige head. Toast, a touch of sweet malt and a balsamic sweetness. Sweet, maple and honey, caramel and light earthy hops. Toast and sweetness on the finish.

Bottle: Poured a deep amber and slightly hazy ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry fruits such as figs and raisins, some sweet malt but alcohol ester. Taste is also dominated by some dry fruits characteristics and some sweet malt but is just too boozy at the end of the day. Body is somewhat too thin for the style with good carbonation too much alcohol was apparent.

Doppelganger (1383) - Dry County, Arkansas, USA - AUG 31, 2008
Used copper penny, dirty beige head with a decent amount of stick. An old sort of apple and rhubarb fruitiness, dark wood, medicine. Flavor is a touch sweet, with menthol and cherry cough meds, Woody, funky, and quirky, but really quite a lot of flavor and and interest. After seeing the panning it gets here, I was kind of surprised how thoroughly decent this was. Being the oddly-high rater of an almost universally hated beer makes me feel a bit like...um, a fire moose with baked antlers. Ah well. This is not bad at all.

doublebock (361) - California, USA - APR 12, 2012
Clear amber color with white head. Aroma of bready malt liquor. Similar in taste to a Budweiser with a relatively crisp hoppy finish and a malty but bland flavor. . I like this better than the Green’s dark beer. For a gluten free, its definitely drinkable.

1 pt 9 fl. oz. bottle, shared by Lubiere (merci!), served cold in a tulip glass. BB 18-09-09. SE01/09.

App.: Deep reddish-copper, somewhat cloudy with yeast chunks, so-so light tan head. Aroma: Light sour ale, some sour cherries, light minerals, light licorice, minty herbals, some dark dried fruits, quite nice. Palate: Medium-light body and fairly soft effervescence. Flav.: Lots of apple juice, some berries and light dark dried fruits, a touch of molasses; off-dry with a touch of bitterness, a bit light.

Quite interesting!

My bottle says it is am amber ale. Medium brown and unfiltered. Some sediment. A soapy tan head has nice retention. A fizzy feel that is medium bodied. An interesting taste profile. Something like rye, something like Cascade hops, vegetables, passion fruit, and some brown sugar. The GF aspect makes fo a different animal here. It also offers some flavors not normally experienced.
