(Bottle) Pours dark brown with a small head. The aroma holds mild roast, light dark bread, glue, swimming pool, alcohol and liqueur. The flavour is light sweet, light bitter and near medium acidic. Tones of mild roast, sugar and citrus acid. The mouthfeel is watery and medium carbonated. Acidic finish. Light bodied.

I had given this one to Dan for Christmas. Pours a dark red /brown color with small off white head. Aroma of slight fruit and malt and a little toastiness. Some malty flavors with a little bit of carmel and nice toasty flavors and weird sort of acidity and sharpness that is out of place. a little thin too. Thanks for Sharing Dan.

Tasted on 10/27/11 from a 500mL bottle purchased at Binny’s South Loop. Pours a nearly opaque dark amber with just a tint of light allowed through, and a thick tan head that slowly recedes to rocky lace, leaving uneven lacing along the inside of the glass. The nose is a really weird, hot, grape juice, date, and fig aroma. The flavor is the same strange grape, vinous, date, and prune juice as the nose. The body is light, with lively, fizzy carbonation, and a short, but hot prune, date, and grape juice finish.

Pours dark with tan head. Dark sugars and chocolate dominate the nose. Beer is thin w/ not much on the palate outside of a faint sweetness that can not be identified much more than that. Alcohol is surprisingly not present, but seems fitting with this beer as very little is present anyway. Good effort & glad to have a chance to try, but definitely not a replacement for a traditional Dubbel.

mahogany with a bubbly tan head; thin body and high carbonation.

Aroma: sour grain, alcohol, and chocolate flavoring.

Taste: sour grain, fruity prune esters, alcohol.

it looks nice, but frankly, it’s undrinkable.

In the classic dubbel fashion, a hint of dark-sugar and toffee flavor; and a traditional Belgian yeast bouquet. OG: 1.064; IBU: 24; ABV: 7.0%
