2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 bu11zeye (10164) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JUN 25, 2008
(Bottle, BB 19.11.07, courtesy of Swalden_28) Pours a clear yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of apple, cheap chardonnay, sorghum, band-aid, and plastic. Flavor starts with quick shot of sour lemon and then settles to earthy yeast and some candi sugar with a dry, somewhat metallic finish. Very unbalanced.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 bhensonb (7589) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 22, 2007
UPDATED: OCT 23, 2007 500 ml. bottle from Nugget (Davis, CA). Aroma is clean, light stone fruits. Color is slightly hazy orange tinged gold. The white head stayed for awhile, and left some slight lace. Something of a perfume aroma as the glass (MJ tasting glass) approaches the lips. Thin to medium bodied with coarse, but creamy, carbonation. The flavor is indeed fruity. It has that tripel alcohol flavor impact. There’s some heat. It has light malt sweetness (without barley!), but that’s not dominant. The finish is lightly hot, pretty dry, and has fruit battling with bitter. The fruit could be a tad grapey, or a tad appley, or a tad of some light stone fruit. I’d say this is strikingly different, but so many of the De Proefbrouwerij ales are. It is what it is, and well into the bottle it is turning applish. Je ne regrette rien. For the moment, anyway.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 hopscotch (7538) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 2, 2008
Bottle... Hazy light golden ale with a small, wispy, white head. The aroma is very restrained. Sake, fuzzy fruit and ethanol are the only traces I can pull from the glass. Medium-bodied, lightly creamy and very effervescent. The flavor is a fruity, moderately bitter marriage of Perry and floral hops. Crisp, tangy, fruity finish.

Bottle from Party Source. Poured clear amber with a moderate frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate spruce aroma. Light to medium body with a watery texture. Light sweet flavor with light sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectation where met.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JoeMcPhee (6966) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 8, 2011
Bottle poured at Get Real NY 2011. Pale hazy golden pour. The aroma is quite spicy. A little bit of light cidery sorghum aroma along with some tart apple fruitiness. Apricot and peach and a fairly lean bodied brew. Zippy with notes of white pepper and some honeyed fruit as well. Clove and spice with a light alcoholic bite. A bit of orange and more spiciness on the finish.

Bottle. Pours hazy gold with 3-finger fizzy white head. Nose is pear, apple, yeast. Tastes fizzy dry and champagny, with mild metallic notes, plus florals, slight berry, and pear. Tastes carbonated, slightly metallic, with slight berry and pear flavors.
1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 daknole (5858) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - OCT 8, 2009
Clar yellow/gold with a big bubbled head. Arom ais nasty. Old apple cider and overripe lemons. Flavor is even worse. Why so much apple flavor. Too much carbonation. BLEH.
1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Cornfield (5277) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - OCT 6, 2007
Honestly, the first whiff of this gluten-free Tripel smelled like airplane glue, and although the description says it contains neither milk nor sesame seeds, it says nothing about that. After the glue clears, is has an aroma of old ladies’ perfume and unripe apples. Tastes better. Has to! There’s some mushy canned fruits, the can top, alcohol, soap, and old honey. I’m glad I can drink regular beers. Oh - Looks fine, clear gold with a spongey head, but looks certainly aren’t everything.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Drake (5231) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - NOV 7, 2009
500 mL bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a pale straw color, lightly hazy, with a moderate sized frothy head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of honey, stone fruits and paint. Taste is weird. A bit bready, cinnamon, apple, paint, clay. Medium bodied. Strongly carbonated.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Ernest (5187) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 29, 2007
Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy, off-white, fully diminishing. Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), trace hops (flowers), with notes of apple, band-aid, hint of nutmeg. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation, lightly alcoholic. You’re pulling my leg that this isn’t a failed cider. Lots of apple and even some plastic phenols, and a fairly tart flavor. It’s not really that bad as a beverage, like...as a cider. But it says "tripel blonde beer" on the label...wha??? At least the Discovery pretty much resembled beer, this is...not really close at all.
