MoritzF (3865), Ruhrpott, Germany Aug 31, 2008 (bottle) Hazy, chestnut-brown colour with a big and dense beige foamy head. Moderately sweet, slightly yeasty and fruity (banana) nose with strong phenolic spices of cloves, nutmeg and anise. Light-sweet, slightly acidic and tart flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Dark malty and wheaty taste with fruity elements and hints of cacao; sweet and slightly acidic, fruity and quite short finish with rather restrained phenolic spice. Not the perfect Dunkelweizen (11.08.08). Maria (3975), Thisted, Denmark Aug 3, 2008 Hazy, dark brown with a nice, huge and creamy head. The aroma has notes of wheat, caramel, banana and very little clove. The flavour has sweetness and notes of wheat, caramel, banana and little clove. It’s smooth and pleasant, but like most dark wheats not with as much personality as the normal version. Ungstrup (11136), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 31, 2007 Bottled. An unclear brown beer with a thick orange head. The aroma is sweet malty and very wheaty with a light note of caramel. The flavor is sweet and again very wheaty - making it a bit sickening, but also with strong notes of banana and caramel, the acidity from the wheat is quite pronounced and lasts until the end - not really me. leaparsons (3903), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Jan 11, 2007 Bottle, Swan and Rushes, Leicester. Cloudy brown with a large cream head. Aromas are weetabix and chocolate malts with lemon and some yeasty notes. Flavours are wheat and thin malts with lemon. Not as malty as I expected. Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 19, 2006 (Bottle 50 cl) pours a cloudy, nutty brown with an off-white head. Tart citrus aroma. Fairly light-bodied, some light caramel flavours and a distinct acidity combined with lots of CO2. Not really a very harmonious example of the style. 121106
