2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 brugmanneke (222) - GERMANY - JAN 23, 2012
(50 cl bottle) Clear, light-amber color, with an off-white foamy head. Aroma is dominated by malts - toast/caramel. A hint of grassy, spicy hops. A little bit leathery and metallic as well. Aroma is not very strong altogether. Medium bitterness. This is ok, but a bit boring. Nothing quite memorable about it.

Clear amber color, small white head, some lace. Malty nose with some apple fruityness. Medium-bodied. Sweetish fruity maltyness, grassy hops, oily malty aftertaste. IMHO not a dunkel at all but kind of Märzen. Balanced, but not very interesting.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Grima (1854) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - DEC 12, 2010
500ml bottle!
Again, a small anniversary for me! Beer No. 850 from Germany! In the glass, landing a nice bright amber colored beer with a flat, fine crown. The smell is just slightly malty, almost neutral. The beer starts malty-bitter, with slightly roasted and nutty nuances. The finish shows bitter nutty, very malt-boaided. Likewise, the beer goes well into the finish, although the flavors begin to weaken slightly. I might imagine a very better brew to an Jubiläumsbier (anniversary beer)!
