Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear light amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted bread, cookie), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of compost (coffee grounds, banana peels, dirt, etc.). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery/creamy texture, lively/soft carbonation. Very simple, generic, easy-going beer. No apparent flaws, but not much character. Easy to knock back as quickly as you please, but it just doesn’t have much impact in any way.

TAR (2346) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - APR 21, 2013
Fresh bottle purchased at the brewery: Toasty golden. Foamy collar of bubbles encircles a broken center. Mediocre aroma consists of fresh hay, strong alcohol and mild spruce, with hints of fruitiness and husky malt. Soft and fuzzy carbonation. Soft baguette-like malt meets crisper-edged toasted piecrust and a candied nuttiness. Very nicely structured, tightly interwoven malt. Hops are delicately spicy, with additional layers of floral softness, as well. Juicy pils malt resembles fresh baked bread. Commendably vibrant malt character, although some fuzzy, poorly defined malt does reveal itself beneath. Sweetness steadily builds as it coincides with an unfortunate apple limpness. Leans toward overtly fruity, which gives it an unwelcome slickness which hampers the otherwise pleasant malt. Finishes dry and chockfull of saliva-inducing pillowy malt, with a gentle scratch of minerals to enliven the soft and lasting breaths of flowers. Without the apple and grain-husk blemishes, this might very well be something special. Kinda forgettable, though, as is.

bottle from the brewery in Forchheim. clear amber body with a small off-white finely-bubbled head. yeasty, doughy aroma and flavor with toasted cereals and some darker burnt bread crust malt as well, with abundant starches and apple flavors. coarse and high acid, not something you find often in German lagerbier. very basic caramel and apple and dough character. has frothy carbonation but the husk and starch character combined with a thin and watery finish is difficult to enjoy.
