Gravity cask at Middle Farm, East Sussex. Golden amber with a faint aroma of citrus and hops. Hoppier on the tongue with decent balance. Reasonable palate but lacks punch as Chris says. Not bad, but the Tipple is better.

Cask (handpump) at the Gribble Inn, Oving, West Sussex, February 2006. I like the way Gribble is not afraid to brew to a decent alcohol level (for a British brewery), but this was one of their weaker efforts I thought. Golden colour, with a quite faint aroma - slight lemony citrus. More citrus on the palate. The mouthfeel is quite soft and light bodied. A perfectly decent drop but could do with a bit more clout, and somewhat lacking in the strong aromatic elements that I would hope to find in a golden ale.
