2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: JAN 29, 2006 Botlle courtesy of key_kevin. Light hazy yellow body. This is fairly light colored for a hefe. The aroma had over ripe bananas with some oranges. This is not a pleasure to smell. The aroma has some oranges with banana peels. There is also some bad bread. No noticeable quality problems, just a bland wheat beer. I tried this again with a bottle I purchased. Same rating.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(12.29.05) One pint, 0.9 fl oz brown bottle purchased from DiCarlo’s, Mundelein, IL. 5.1% ABV. Hazy straw colored weisse beer having a medium white head with good lacing. No discernable carbonation. Sour clove aroma. Light-to-medium bodied that starts with light malt sweetness and spicy clove, caramel and smoke flavors. Finishes with light malt aftertaste. A very good refreshing clean tasting brew.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured with a lovely great foamy rocky textured head and a little lace. Hazy burnished golden color. Nice spicy banana clove and bit of nutty/bitter tree bark (from yeastoids) aroma. Notice a softness to the flavor along with the banana clove stereotypical profile taste. A little sweeter than other hefes. Interesting and a nice change of pace. Got this as a sample of a beer that’s soon to be stocked at Bodega downtown La Crosse.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500 ml bottle from Everetts Liquor Store in South Beloit, WI, enjoyed in the wee hours of this fine, warm Christmas morning. Light, lustrous yellow-gold, large diminishing head...fair bit of skunk emerges at first, but this thankfully dies quickly, being replaced by lemon and light banana-caramel-clove, not bad all in all....rather full, somewhat slippery body, with lots of fruity estery character, moderate carbonation, light sourness building along with the banana character to a fruity, slightly lactic, strong finish. The first few seconds were scary, but this holds on and becomes a pretty decent, if light and slightly watery, example of the style.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thoroughly opaque, murky amber/wheat in color with a creamy head that fell in peaks and laced wetly. Rich aromas with green banana, plenty of clove and a hint of smoke. Sweet & sour fruity flavor with banana well represented. Palate was thickly creamy (to the point of being buttery) with banana and spice lingering in the finish. Very good for the style, with a thick wheatiness that I prefer to more watery Hefes.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle and served in my Ayinger weizen glass: Pour a cloudy yellow with a initial big fluffy head than quickly disappeared and left only some lace. The aroma has notes of banana, bready malt, wheat husk, light clove and lemony esters. The taste was well within standards for the genre but seemed to lack to punch of the great hefes. Wheaty, bready, yeasty, fruity, and lightly spiced. The feel was quite nice, lively and refreshing and a little heft. A nice find for sure. Currently available at Sam’s in Chicago.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cloudy yellow-apricot body, thin off-white head. Slight tartness in the aroma, crisp, bready, and grassy, with banana notes. Quite bready body with clove, banana, flavored like a typical hefeweizen but lighter and creamier like a witbier. Sharp, light spicy aftertaste. Smooth and well-carbonated. Very nice; about as quaffable a wheat beer as there is.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
This pours a very pale straw color, looking more like a Belgian wit than a hefeweizen. The once proud head collapses suddenly and without warning. The aroma is wheat and old bananas with a dab of clove seasoning. The cloves become more pronounced in the flavor and the bananas get a little fresher, with a yeast taste and a twist of lemon entering the picture. Good warm weather drinking material.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cloudy straw color with a taller off white head of soft foam. Light aromas of dry wheat, and mild bubblegum and bananas. Slick, yet quite full in fell. Lots of malt and wheat flavors. Sweet grapenuts (my favorite cereal) come to mind. Hints of alcohol are evident as it warms. A touch of vanilla and mild dough. A very full weisse.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Extremely cloudy yellowish pour, with moderate head. Palate is quite zesty, with lemon and yeast dominant. A bit thin, but still a refreshing weisse.
