Clear, honey-golden hued...thick, rocky, creamy white head. Sweet, candy-ish nose, reminscent of the typical tripel....citrus zest...minor whiffs of tropical fruit. Okey-doke. In the mouth, warm and hoppy, a bit fruity, turning dry with a quickness. Leaves the palate far too soon, but has a pleasant stay, as long as it lasts. Further flavors are revealed on increased inspection, more fruit, peppers a touch, but they still play in a minor key. Soft and pleasing, while still spicy and containing a particular kick. Not the greatest blonde/tripel/whatever, but a fine drink nonetheless. I put off purchasing this one for quite some time, due to the cost, $10 a 6-pack. Thinking on it, itís much cheaper by volume than other Belgian ales, but considering the middling quality, you also get what you pay for. 72 ounces of this passable pale for $10 vs $8 -12 for 25 ounces of far Superior brew? Thatís the choice we have to make sometimes, but I believe, when on a budget, Iíll choose this one again.

(bottle) Pale amber colour with a frothy white medium head. Fruity malty aroma with a touch of herbal hops and yeast. Slightly sweet malty and fizzy mouthfeel with a fruity and grainy finish. Smooth and crispy character, alcohol is barely detectable.

Bottle... Hazy, golden ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. Good retention. Spicy, fruity aroma. Well-balanced, tangy flavor with apricot and coriander. Medium-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Spicy, dry finish.

This is a standard Belgian, the Bud of Northern France, but itís good that this is the Bud and Bud is not the Bud. It is mostly malty, a bit salty, very carbonated, and a bit dry in the finish. The alcohol is hidden in the nose and the taste.

75cl bottle from Carrefour Calais. Gold colour with thinnish white bubbly head. Yeasty lemony aromas. OK in mouth with a touch of sweetness and some caramel. Finish is yeasty and dry. Ok but certainly not the best Belgian blonde

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2005 A typical abbaye beer. I prefer the double one, but this is a very good beer you can find easily (in france, either I donít know).

Had a bottle it one night after work, poured it into a La Chouffe glass that was lying around. A great blonde style Belgian beer. Not to heavy and went down with ease. Mine was ice cold and the flavors developed more as it came to room temp. A perfect Belgian beer for the summer.

UPDATED: SEP 8, 2005 7 Sep 2005 -(Eurpoean Beer Cafe, Melbourne) Light sweet fruit/apricot malt aroma. Clear golden-orange colour, OK head but doensít retain and a sudsy lacing. Complex hop and light fruit malt flavour. Starts dry, good medium mouthfeel, with nice light tangy bitter hop finish.

Ok, this is also nice, the the double. A smooth taste, with slighty hop notices and slight alcohol nihts. Floral greatness throughout. Not on par w/the double, but the dry apple finish is nice.
