Gloudy gold with a large white head. Hops and malt seem very well balanced. Clean finish.

12 fl. oz. bottle coded: 27030L0865B. Pours an amber color with a good supply of white, fizzy head. Definite aroma of yeast on the nose. That seems to be the overpowering element altough I notice a little bit of overripe fruit and also alcohol. Taste has a little bit of fruit in it and alcohol. This has a little punch to it. When I drink these Abbey Ales with recipes dating back to the 12th-13th Centuries, I can’t help but to wonder if the Templar Knights or the Crusaders drank something similar when they were reaking havoc all over Europe.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 ErikTheViking (76) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 28, 2008
Golden with white head. Aroma: Lots of hops, very fruity with hints of citrus , very sweet (very Belgian). Even though it was a quite sunny day, I think it works better on an even sunnier day. I prefer Grimbergen dubbel to this one.

33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, easy to drink beer, clear, good head, not bad brew
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Bungalo22 (326) - Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA - JUL 17, 2008
Holy lacing and head on this one. It is now sitting on the table near me and I am getting the citrus aroma. The lacing is crazy though, very impressive and worth a high appearance grade. Very sweet, almost like drinking a lemon with sugar spread over it. I pick up a lot of orange and a slight wheat taste. I liked this a lot but could probably only have a couple before getting a turned stomach. I also pick up a slight tinny taste on the back of the palate. Also, as I go on a bit too sweet and fruity.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Scauca (490) - Lovere, ITALY - JUL 15, 2008
Clear golden with a creamy white cap. Sweet faint maltiness, metallic, with a metallic sour flavour. Tasteless.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 kiefdog (1826) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JUL 11, 2008
33cl from Kingdom Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a slightly hazy dark golden caramel color with a thick and frothy off-white head that settles slowly and provides heavy lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweet and fruity with notes of fresh flowers, spice, bread and yeast. Flavor is malt, bready, yeast, slightly sour ripe fruit and notes of malty sweetness like caramel and honey. Light to medium body with a quick, uninteresting finish. Overall, nice ale.
