cking (727), North Canton, Ohio, USA May 13, 2008 Updated: May 27, 2008 Enjoyed most of the six pack throughout this past weekend, I find this to be a nice easy going Belgian Blonde. Nothing spectacular, but very satisfying and makes for a great transition brew. Sparkling, clear golden-yellow pour with a large white top and blanketing lacing. Small bubbles of steady carbonation. Sweet, musty fruits and a minimal earthy yeastiness are contained in the gentle aroma. Light bodied and airy with a sharp quenching ability. Fresh fruity flavors, mild malts and some faint spicy hop characteristics. Yeasty along with a faint metallic flavor (also evident in their Dubbel that had been previously rated). After sampling a few this beer has finally grown on me, it’s rather nice and simple for it’s style and that’s what makes it work.
Lubiere (3250), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Sep 1, 2008 A golden ale with a thick creamy white head. In aroma, a nice classy coriander and curacao, with light alcohol. In mouth, a warming sweet malt with more bubblegum, and curacao , very classy. Medium bodied. BB 30-06-07 Bottle bought at Supersol, Vall d’Hebron, and tasted mid Nov. 2006. wheresthepath (226), Buckinghamshire, England Aug 28, 2008 [Bottle from Sainsbury’s, Reading] I mus admit, I only chose this beer bedause Sainsbury’s were selling it off at half price - just 73p. Pours a mid-gold with a moderate, lasting head, which left lots of lacing on the glass. Smells pleasantly of sweet malt and honey. Prickly carbonation. Tastes initially of malt, with some pineapple and lemon. Some grass comes through, followed disconcertingly by some honey roast ham, which reminded me of Leffe Blond. More grass and malt in the aftertaste, a very slight bitterness and a chalky mouthfeel. Overall impression is a rather light, but refreshing and enjoyable beer. If you like Leffe Blonde, you’ll probably enjoy this even more; in fact, I’m not sure why this is classed on here as an Abbey Tripel when the very similar Leffe Blonde is classed as a Belgian Ale...? ucusty (1062), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 26, 2008 Gold pour with fluffy white head.
