Birra bionda con una schiuma discreta ma duratura. Non è più un birrificio indipendente. Sentori di malto, lievemente floreali. In bocca miele d’acacia, poca frutta, un po’ d’alcool. Una birra semplice, onestamente.

fruity grassy flavors and aroma tempered with a slightly spicy but light yeast character. body slightly over carbonated but not distractingly so. overall a nice beer, especially for a belgian blonde which are typically one rung down on the food chain for me."

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap in Paris. Pours dark golden with a small short-lasting head. Light sour aroma with citrus and a hint of malt. Taste is sour and slightly sweet and has a slightly bitter finish. Aroma and flavor reminded of a horse milk spirit from the central Asian/ Mongolian region I bought in north west China. The body is light with low carbonation and thin mouthfeel.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Typical blonde abbey beer in the Grimbergen range, with relatively thick, off-white, moussy, sticky head and deep ’old gold’ colour, cristal clear without any sparkles. Strongly ’cooked’ aroma of pasteurization: this beer clearly is stone dead, and has received head stabilizing agents. The nose also gets industrial apple juice, raw cauliflower, biscuit, banana, clear and obvious iron (probably the head stabilizer) and cookie dough. Taste begins with an artificial fruitiness, some banana and apple again, immediately some wry chemicals turn up, slick and smooth, light mouthfeel with thinnish body, metallic, grainy pale malt sweetishness, ending in a simple grassy hoppiness without real bitter, phenolic too with an off-putting solvent-like astringency, with surprisingly some carbonation tingling on the tongue (surprisingly as I could not see any fizz in the beer at all). This is even worse than the immensely popular Leffe Blonde, very industrial, chemical and artificial. Didn’t enjoy this, it’s almost like a sugared, top-fermented (is it?) pale lager. To avoid at all time.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Malty sweetness on the nose after an apple juice colored pour and light white head.
Light body with a sweet, almost fruity malt character and high effervescence with a bittersweet finish.

Transfer from BA review on 5-4-13-
Poured from bottle into a snifter
Appearance- The beer pours a light to medium golden color with a rather large billowy white head. The head fades relatively quickly leaving a medium level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell- The aroma of the brew is sweet of a citrus and light fruit aroma of apple and pear. There exists with these smells some nice noted of a banana as well as a moderately strong yeasty smell. Hints of a lightly boozed and vanilla aroma also are there, creating a rather pleasant nose overall.
Taste – The taste begins malty and sweet with a strong presence of orange citrus upfront. As the flavors advance some yeasty and more banana flavors come to the tongue and are quickly joined by some lighter spice flavors of coriander and clove. Toward the end the of the taste the sweeter fruit flavors dwindle and an alcohol flavor mixed with some notes of vanilla hit the tongue producing, for an only 6.7 % abv brew,. a surprisingly boozy triple like flavor is left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel-The body of the beer is on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is on the average side. The slightly thinner feel is actually rather nice of the sweet citrus and boozy flavors for the brew ,minimizing the former and complementing the later quite well.
Overall – This is a Belgian style blond I rather like. It finishes on the drier side with more triple like characteristics all while maintaining a relatively smooth but warming flavor throughout the taste. Quite tasty.
