COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double has undergone two fermentations, which gives this ale a chocolatey, toffee taste with a warming brandy-like finish.

Wow, this is pretty higly rated... I thought this beer was pretty bad. The things that stick out for me were the bready aroma and taste that was pretty one dimensional. There were some unknown spice that really didn’t add to the flavour. Medium bodied with that ruddy brown colour and a smal head that in belgian fashion sticks around until it’s done.

Wonderful dark brown-red colour. Small but thick redish head that sticks to the glass. Smell is spicy sweet and the taste adds caramel and smokiness. Beer has a great body too.

Bottle: Deep ruby, brownish tinge, moderate rocky light beige head, falls fast, spotty lacing.   Nutty/bready aroma, very slight dark pitted fruit, and I mean slight.   Semi-sweet malt character, remains bready, slight fig and date but it dies and doesn’t linger.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Sugary sweet finish, somewhat artificial, without a decent dark pitted fruit stance.   Mildly bready, but a bit too thin on the backside.   Meh...

Pours a dark mohagany color with a huge fluffy head that lasts the whole beer leaving a nice lace down the glass. It’s better average, The other remarkable thing about it is the thick mineral mouthfeel. This is worth checkin gout.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, hazy and ruby-brown. Ring of tan head. Sweet cookie, malt, chocolate nose. Caramel and toffee. Sugar and ginger. Plums and raisins round out the olfactory essences. Smooth and sweet malt character. Grainy and sugary. Lively. Chocolate and plumy. Cola syrupy. Smooth and enjoyable.

Good looking dubbel. Nice rocky head. Sweet plum aroma. Toffee and fuit flavors. A tad too sweet. The alcohol isn’t as well masked as it could be for a 6.5 ABV.

Had this on tap as this months offering at the Winking Lizard on Bethel Rd. Nose of raisin, caramel & wheat. As the brew warms, the nose just gets better; with the perfect dried fruit presence. The brew is a dark ruby brown with copper highlights. The frothy off white head is mostly diminishing with light lace. The loose flavor is where this brew falls flat. Starting with a wheatish malt front, the brew slides around a sweet middle and finishes that way. The medium creamy palate is soft and finishes dry. It’s not usual for me to miss this badly after I evaluate the nose, but that’s where the special qualities of this brew come to a grinding halt. From excitement to disappointment.

330ml bottle poureda clear reddish copper with a lasting amber head. Aromas of dark fruit, brown sugar and spices. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of brown sugar, nuts and spices with a smooth finish.

330 ml bottle. Dark chestnut. Thick fine-laced. Soapy aromas. Aroma is rather disappointing. Rich raisin-like flavour. Caramel richness. Hop bitterness throughout, that balances nicely with the malts.

Excellent! Pours a deep ruby in color with a huge inch-thick rocky head. Fruity aroma with a bit of raisin, toffe and a dark, brandy-like note. Flavor is much the same. Silky on the palate. An excellent dubbel.
