UPDATED: NOV 21, 2013 It is quite like roasted toast. There’s much of sharp carbonation. Taste is a bit bitter at least in the end, so it’s not so nice. After all the beer is great, but it might be too caramel/raisin-like sugary, candy.

On tap. Poured a clear brown with large foamy tan head. Aroma of sweetness, chocolate covered cherries, toffee, and caramel. Taste followed the nose and was a little sweet for me. Body felt light and looked kind of like pepsi cola in the glass. Finish was nice and smooth though at the end.

Bottle 0.33 l. Dark red color. Medium white head. Not much lacing. In aroma dominate bananana, cherries and chocolate. Sweet body with taste of caramel and dark fruit. Maybe, there are, also, some earth notes. Overall: nice beer.

Bottle (330 ml). Dark amber with a medium mostly lasting beige head and good lacing. Aroma is of dried raisins, light liquorice, caramel, chocolate and light vinous notes. Taste is mild and a lot less expressive than aroma (which isn’t that expressive either)... toffee, chocolate, spicy notes and light vinous notes. Medium body, but weak and watery. Moderate/medium carbonation. Bland finish. A bit herbal too. The aroma isn’t bad at all, but then it gets as boring as possible. The body is weak and there’s a clear lack of flavors. Not interesting.

0.33l bottle poured in a its own chalice A: Beautiful dark amber color with a nice creamy beige head which dissipates quickly leaving some nice lacings S: Sweet. Toffee and caramel malts dominates. But also a dark fruits, spices and Belgium yeasts T: Again caramel malts and spices. Sweet as a Belgium Dubbel should be with a light bitter end. M: Creamy and dense with a medium carbonation D: Good. I personally like the Belgium Dubbel style and Grimbergen represents it very well. I really recommend it [ BA Review @ 6/2/2010 ]
