The waitress said, this is a "Double Abbey" and so I said, "Is this a Belgian Dubbel or are you say it’s a double abbey, like it’s twice the abbey?" And she says, "Yeah, I think it’s like an Imperial Abbey or something...?"
There should be a TV show called "Waitresses describing craft beer say the darndest things." Maybe Bill Cosby could host it or something.
Nice example for a Belgian Dubbel albeit on the lighter and easy-going side.

Bottle. Dark amber, generous foam head. Aromas of dark grains, raisins, general sweetness, rye bread. Taste is very sweet, raisins with hint of dried apricots, brown sugar, slightly bitter and sour after taste. Evolution is nice, but it is way too sweet for me.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 18B). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 23:30 <1>. AROMA: some ester aromas reminiscent of raisins and some dried cherries. spicy alcohols and a sweet and caramely background. some solventy alcohol notes are present. no hop aromas and no diacetyl. APPEARANCE: dark amber color with ruby tint. clear. average tanned moussy head with good retention. TASTE: low sweet malt flavour with a semi-sweet finish. low bitterness and no hop flavours. very faint to absent esters. PALATE: medium-low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a poor representation of a Belgian ale with poor malt complexity.

Flaska från @msbrindbergs , stort tack! Mörk brunröd vätska med fluffigt ljust skum. Doftar kolafudge. Lättdrucken chokladig på ett mycket angenämt sätt. Mycket smak utan att bli för mycket. Choklad, kola, rostad malt... Mesta smaken kommer efter att den passerat gomseglet

On tap at a cafe in Paris overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Pours a dark gold, clear with a white head. Lighter color than expected. A good and tasty beer, but not what I expected from a Dubbel. Taste is moderate bready and slight chocolate. Yeast is well pronounced in bready manner.

Grimbergen Cuvee Ambree )Dubbel (Double)) - 6.5% - Bottle at Rubens in Antwerp poured to Grimbergens glass. Pours dark brownish with some purple hues, and a half finger creamy off white head. Aroma is nice, with lots of dark fruits, figs, prunes, brown sugar. Smells very sweet. Flavor is figs and prunes, some brown sugar, and a slightly dirty finish here that lingers a bit unpleasantly. Prickly carbonation, soft mouthfeel otherwise, and relatively smooth down the throat. Not bad but the finish is a little offputting and downgrades things a bit.

0.33L tap. Pours clear mohaganey brown with a thick, frothy tan head. Aromas are sour with mild roasted and bready malt notes. Mild sweet at beggining, bubblegum in th emiddle, then a long, sweet-sour finish, with some hints of sour cherry. Leaves a chalky feeling on the tongue. Medium-light body with a creamy(ish) mouthfeel. Overall, more sour than I remember, and surprisingly light with a decent flavor profile.
