UPDATED: FEB 2, 2015 bottle, 33cl
vinous and nutty aroma,
brown with light brown thick head,
flavor is starting to get sour (or is fruity), caramel, nuts , alc non detectable. i think the sour note in the flavor is too dominating. (6-3-5-3-11)
re-rate 2015-02-03, 75cl bottle at dkk 39.. clear nutty brown, smooth, but slightly fluffy too, offwhite head. nutty and malty aroma, also some burnt caramel, faint dry raisins. Flavor is sweet malty, full bodied, caramel, some faint notes of flowers or honey, some faint notes of sweet dried fruits. A very pleasant and drinkable dubbel, although it is stil enough complex to keep you interested. much better than for instance leffe brune. However the sweetness gets to me after a while, and it is in the way more and more as i continue tasting. (current registered rating)

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled, filtered, 330ml at A ge Pannes, Schin op Geul, NL Limburg. Dark brown with cream head. Another I thought I had rated in the past, thank god for a PDA and a beer list. Sugary sweet dubbel without too much to overcome the sweetness. There is some malty fruitiness if you try and a touch of deep roasted malt, but I am beggining to struggle with the Belgian taste for sweetness.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
A sweet, vegetable-like aroma with some roasted malt. Sweet, malty and fruity taste. Slight bitter aftertaste. A bit sticky. Disappointing for a abbey ale.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: APR 1, 2014 330ml bottle (5:3:6:2:11=2.7)
Rich brown, quickly dissipating head.Slightly metallic bitter aroma, but also sweet and fruity. Lively in the mouth. Nice aspect of the taste include a raisiny sweetness and both richly roasted ans sweet notes of malt, but alas that’s overshadowed by a thinness, too harsh alcohol, sickly sweetness, and something quite metallic. Falls far short of the better dubbels.
Rerate: Tap (Hovipoikka, Tampere) (4:3:4:2:8=2.1)
Eww, sour aroma. Watery palate, positively thin, almost fizzy too. Unpleasant messy roasted malt taste. Only positive is that the alcohol’s hidden. However, I’d not even think about drinking enough of this to get drunk, as it’s so unpleasant.
Unwanted rerate: Tap (Belmontas, Vilnius)) (7:4:5+:3+:11+=3.0+++)
Super sweet raisiny berry aroma, fruitcakey, hedonistically very nice, if a bit bizarre in its caricature. Tastes like a typical boring belgian brune - bready sweet, a bit yeasty, yet also cleanish. Reminds me of a softer sweeter version of the tongerlo I used to have in the Daily News at 7am. Before food, this was quite full. After food, it seems weak.
