COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double has undergone two fermentations, which gives this ale a chocolatey, toffee taste with a warming brandy-like finish.

Dark amber, perhaps mahogany, pour with a khaki head. Nice sweet dark fruit and sugar aromas. Caramel, toffee, and hints of chocolate. Some subtle spice and yeast, plum, raisin, and dates. Plenty of sweet malt flavor to this. Caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and chocolate. Nice plum and raisin fruit character, banana, yeast, and a bit of spice.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown, lightly cloudy, with a small, off-white and quickly diminishing head. Nose has some modest Belgian character, caramel and some toffee. A pleasing flavor, sweet with brown sugar and toffee. Medium in body, average carbonation. Medium length finish, lingering sweetness and hints of grape jam. Really good overall. Just what I would want from a dubbel.

A sweet, vegetable-like aroma with some roasted malt. Sweet, malty and fruity taste. Slight bitter aftertaste. A bit sticky. Disappointing for a abbey ale.

Bottled, filtered, 330ml at A ge Pannes, Schin op Geul, NL Limburg. Dark brown with cream head. Another I thought I had rated in the past, thank god for a PDA and a beer list. Sugary sweet dubbel without too much to overcome the sweetness. There is some malty fruitiness if you try and a touch of deep roasted malt, but I am beggining to struggle with the Belgian taste for sweetness.

Amber with small head. Aroma is yeasty and sweet from fruits. Some plums and also some other fruit in it. Flavor is yeasty and the fruit is back there as well.

Lubiere (9438) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 1, 2008
A reddish brown ale with a thick creamy moka head. Nice caramel toffee aroma with orange peels notes. In mouth, a sweet caramel malt, orange peels and light hopping, treacle notes. Medium bodied. A classy dybbel. Bought at Supersol, Vall d’Hebron, 1.35 E. and tasted mid Nov. 2006.
