Rumor has it that you can no longer find the Grimbergens in Florida...however if you can fins some (& don’t mind the high price for it), you will be greatly rewarded. My recommendation is to pour it into a room-temperature glass. Truly the finest beer to taste BETTER as it grows warmer in the glass!

First poured from a bottle at the Blue Pearl in New Haven, CT, then found at a local retail store. The only thing keeping this from being the perfect beer is my belief that such a thing does not yet exist. Poured an attractive dark amber with just a little bit of head. The flavor combination of malt, caramel, and a hint of spice blended and progressed fantastically before leading to a mellow finish and overall sense of satisfaction. Definitely a beer to enjoy in smaller amounts/at a slower pace rather than in rounds at a bar.

Just like Affligem double, this one has a great mix between heaviness and sweet aftertaste.
Also it doesn’t have TOO much alcohol.
Definitely one of my favourites from Belgium.

Sting on palate. Sweet fruity nature and a Belgium funk. Lucky me. Excellent!

Smells a little fruity and off, but looks nice. I think this may have strawberry or raspberry hints, but this is truly one of my favorite doubles - top notch.

The taste is just the right bits of unsweetened chocolate and fine brandy, with a side of roasted barley to keep you sipping. A damn fine brew my lads.

Now this...is beer. Pours a beautiful deep copper color with a generous off white head. Lots of roasted malts with hints of chocolate on the nose. Wonderful, roasted chocolate with a bit of a fruity character to it in the aftertaste. This was a great great beer, highly reccomended.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Cybercat (1907) - Georgia, USA - MAR 16, 2012
Comes out of the tap a semi-translucent dark mahogany with a respectable light tan head that leaves some good lacing. Aroma is mainly fruity - apple and a little pear with a hint of banana - and has a malty underpinning and a touch of caramel. Flavor has apple, banana, malt, pear and caramel notes and just a touch of horehound. It is quite sweet but not cloying. Mouthfeel has good body and plenty of fizz, making for a fruity sweet and lively finish.

Pours brown with a nice tan head. Smells of cherries, fresh fruit, caramel, some hints of spice, earthy. Tastes fruity with a nice balance of sweet malt and an underlying tartness. Mouthfeel is slick. The finish on this is fruity. A touch of honey shows up as this warms. A great example of the style.
