Double has undergone two fermentations, which gives this ale a chocolatey, toffee taste with a warming brandy-like finish.

33 cl bottle, $2.30 @ Binny’s, Jul ’09. Hey, 800th rating for this beer. Got a nice goblet that receives a deep red-brown, opaque beer, with a fluffy tan head. I sniff nice sweet Belgian malts and a bit of sugar, plus a bit of sourness. First thing I notice when sipping is that its texture is kind of light.Still some nice malt, sweetness is not as pronounced as some Belgian abbey beers. A little toffee if I hold some beer in my mouth, and a bit of sourness, maybe as much as in a Guinness. A bit of plum and fruitcake a little down the glass. Works out pretty nice. Mild alcohol note. Label description implies a bottle fermentation, but there’s no sediment in this one.

Copenhagen 21/9 2014. 33cl bottle. Pours dark brownish copper with light brown head which slowly subsides. Aroma is strong and does not hide the alcohol content. Not much chocolate as promised - rather bitter notes. Prickly mouthfeel. Taste is very sweet with raisins and alcohol notes. Too sweet for me.

Ámbar oscuro y limpio oxn espuma color canela. Aromas de caramelo y frutas confitadas al débil. Cuerpo medio bajo, carbonatación alta para el estilo. Sabor inicial de carameloy final seco en el que se nota esa carbonatacion algo alta.

Rated from beer log from 2009 Belgian Trip.... Gentle sweet aroma, slightly nutty without much head... Sweet flavor, not much bitterness to balance, dull flavor overall... Not much on palate, not high on my list of dubbels this trip, but okay... Not very complex

Drucken på Gyldene Freden till anka, vilket passade alldeles förträffligt. Detta beror på att ölen har en liten sötma och samtidigt en lätt kryddighet samtidigt som den är lätt i kropp och karaktär. Fin för sin stil. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Snifter. Very smooth and rich, never bitter. Chocolate toffee present, but almost a grape juice flavor.

Van de tap. Mooi donker bier met een stevige schuimkop. Fijn afgestemde smaak met een licht bittertje. Erg goed Door drinkbaar.

A lower end double. I like their tripel, but this beer is avg at best. Aroma is very weak, hint of caramel. Color is a deep amber, nothing special. Taste is very mild, with a bit if caramel, malts. Palate is a bit spicy abd watery. Mildy bitter, medium dryness. Overall its drinkable, but below average.
