dark amber, brownish with a small head that disappears. smell is alcohol, sugar, apple. taste is dominantly strong toffee that turns saccharine. a lot of alcohol and candy, surprisingly hoppy herbal taste. mild yeast character-fresh,springy(?). palate is creamy but moderate. something so one dimensional i wont get again.

Bottle at Aba-Jour, july 31. Pours clear mahogny with a creamy one-inch tan head. Aroma is sweet caramel, raisin, plum and light spices. Taste is medium sweet with toffee, dark and dried fruit, light bitterness in the background. Finish is light/medium spicy bitterness. Medium bodied.

Flaska från Alko, Finland. Mörk brunröd vätska med ett schysst ljusbrunt skum. Doftar sött av plommon, russin och malt. Smakar sött av detsamma, saknar lite drag dock. Relativt tunn kropp. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours deep chestnut with a cream head. Quite a sweet malty brew with notes of chocolate and spice. Alright.

330ml bottle as ’Speciale Editie Dubbel’ 6.8%. I assume this is the same, apart from the slightly higher ABV. Pours deep chestnut brown with creamy off-white head. Aroma of malt, taste is malty with sweet toffee and some dark fruits. Very nice dubbel.

Servita fresca.

Draft @ Cafe Benelux. Aroma almost a little sour. Nice chestnut brown color, clear with white head and nice lacing. First taste is of plum, and dark fruit. Good body (medium). Overall a VERY good beer!

Een dubbel zoals een dubbel hoort te zijn, met een volle, rijke smaak. Echt een aanrader.

Bottle. 6.5%. As ’Grimbergen Double-Ambrée’. Best before 03.15. Pours a clear copper/amber with a light tan head. Good lacing. Aroma is tart, bordering sour, and fruity. Sweetish with a malt note in the background. Spicy, dark fruit note as it warms. Flavour is sweetish and spicy, with a dark fruit note. Same finish, tart and with a lingering light grassy note. Slight metallic feel to the palate. Overall okay, but nothing special. 07.08.14.
