4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 ZeidleBrew (8) - , USA - OCT 22, 2008 does not count
First poured from a bottle at the Blue Pearl in New Haven, CT, then found at a local retail store. The only thing keeping this from being the perfect beer is my belief that such a thing does not yet exist. Poured an attractive dark amber with just a little bit of head. The flavor combination of malt, caramel, and a hint of spice blended and progressed fantastically before leading to a mellow finish and overall sense of satisfaction. Definitely a beer to enjoy in smaller amounts/at a slower pace rather than in rounds at a bar.

tasteв at Riga, draught. Bready and dried fruits on aroma, pretty much the same on the taste, taste is sweet, with a lively carbonation.

At de zotte, amsterdam: Like a cross between a krieg and a traditional brown dubbel. Love it.
Grimbergen Dubbel on draft at B Cafe NYC.
Great, just as good as in Amsterdam. Hint of cherry krieg vibe, otherwise a dark brown dubbel.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 TET (786) - FINLAND - MAY 26, 2012
A dark, reddish brown beer with a big and beige head. Aroma is quite sweet, dried dark fruits, some red berries and spicyness. Taste is dark fruity, quite sweet, spicyness and hint of roastiness. Medium bodied, nice carbonation, fresh and nice to drink. Quite sweet dubbel, still quite fresh and easily to enjoy.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Niksko (14) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 25, 2012
330ml bottle into a pint glass. Pours the color of coca-cola, a lovely dark brown. Two fingers of fine off-white head that fades fast. Some lacing. Solid malty smell on the nose, a tiny bit floral and a slight amount of blackberry. Really complex palate. More dark fruits on the attack, a touch of banana on the mid palate and lovely coffee and bitter chocolate flavours on the finish. Very long finish with a good bit of limey sourness and some balancing bitterness. Also, a little metallic on the finish (which I like) and a bit of an oxidised alcohol flavour which is interesting. Mouthfeel is light with a small amount of viscosity to it. Overall a solid beer, but somewhat off balance.

Small bottle. Mahogany body with medium head. Weak fruity aroma. Cheap watery palate. Taste has a light touch of dried fruit and some malt but ultimately they have ruined it with their "cost-effectiveness". I bet this tasted decent before the brand was picked up by mega corporations.

Brown coloured ale and this label says "Dubbel" roasty taste and hints of caramel.

Medium-bitter with ideal, not to sweet caramel palate. Dark foam, stays until end. Dark-brown colour. This is one of the best Belgian abbey beers in my opinion.
