The Vintage of the Hermitage is brewed starting from three kinds of hops and special malts. After its fermentation, the beer rests for three months out of special tanks in order to deposit its sediment and fully develope its specific flavour. The exceptional richness of its ingredients as well as the attention given to its mixing make this original Cuvée a "must" for the experts. It is besides the only Belgian beer having received with three recoveries the gold medal allotted by "World selection" (Institute for the selection of quality). It is for these reasons that the Vintage of the Hermitage is a national success in the best establishments of Belgium. A beer red-brown, dark, consistent, pleasant and with the bitter after-taste, of type "Armagnac". In Christmas, taste also Christmas de Cuvée of the Hermitage.

25/II/13 - 25cl bottle from De Heeren van Liedekercke (Denderleeuw) @ home - BB: VI/1997 (2013-199)

Little cloudy brown to dark brown beer, no head, some chunks floating around (had the last part of the bottle). Aroma: some caramel, and chocolate, bit sugary, chloride detected, bit spicy, little stale, but only a little. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: caramel, bit sugary, sour touch, some honey, bit oxidized. Aftertaste: caramel, little bready, sugar, orange peel, sherry, little bitter and slightly sour. This has aged amazingly well. Probably 18 years old. (1997-2 = 1995 vintage)

Thx! for sharing tderoeck @ ‘The Adam Jackson Tasting’. Old time looking medicine bottle covered in dust. 25 cl. Sampled. BBF 1997 – 1992 & 1995 Vintages were speculated. Pours a reddish brown with no head. Sweet caramel, syrup in the nose, thick pancake style, oxidized but good, sweet sherry,.... Sweet caramel, toffee, sherry, oxidation, syrup, apple juice, dark honey, sweet herbs,.... Flat & oxidized but this has held up quite phenomenally. Slick with no carbonation. One of the best aged beers, I have had – big surprise.

Kaki brown, rocky small head. Grapes, cornflakes, tamarind, wood and light sourness. Light sweet with a lingering faint sourness running through. Strange beer. (On tap at Kafe België)

Bottle. Nougat brown body with a medium tan head. Aroma is disappointingly weak, with hints of ale yeast and raisins only. Taste is honey melon, caramel and hints of raspberry. Palate is quite watery, severely affecting the overall feel of this beer. An OK beer, but lacking anything that would put it anywhere near the big league.

Bottle, 8.5%. BB 1997, 12 years ago. OK fruity aroma, some raisin, a bit old-smelling, but not too bad. Muddy red brown colour. The flavour is very bready. Quite old-tasting.

33 cL bottle from DHVL. Pours hazy brown with no head and no carbonation. Wineous and malty aroma. Fruity and malty flavoured with a nice roasted note and lasting dense caramel malty impression. Sweet and malty flavoured finish. Mild bitter and smooth dense caramel to light chocolate malty flavoured with a light vanilla note. Nice stuff.
