Skinnyviking (2635), Copenhagen, Denmark Dec 28, 2005 Bottle. Light brown short head. Dark brown body. Cannot distinguish the aroma but it is spicy yet sweet. Pleasant chocolate coffee hops flavor.
Lubiere (3251), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Sep 1, 2008 A reddish brown ale with a thick creamy moka head. Nice caramel toffee aroma with orange peels notes. In mouth, a sweet caramel malt, orange peels and light hopping, treacle notes. Medium bodied. A classy dybbel. Bought at Supersol, Vall d’Hebron, 1.35 E. and tasted mid Nov. 2006. AllAboutStout (471), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Sep 1, 2008 Pours a ruby brown in color. Decent amount of pillowy head. Decent carbonation. I’m usually not a big fan of Dubbels, but this had more flavors that I do like. There was a definite toffee flavor, as well as a very nice dark fruit appearing as well. Which I didn’t mind at all. Good beer. Straling (21), Amstenrade, Netherlands Aug 27, 2008 Bottle 33cl.
Pours an nice clear brown/red colour, good size head, but doesn’t last very long. Very sweet aroma, can detect many fruits, mainly cherries and pears.
Also a faint smell of nuts.
Goes down the hatch very smooth, taste gives away the fruits again, but even stronger and more powerful. Hops also in the taste, with a touch of the alcohol, great combination all together.
Gary__ (95), London, Greater London, England Aug 24, 2008 Updated: Aug 26, 2008Ive past this up many times @ a local bottle shop.On this night It was gratifying or something sippin’ on a goblet of Grimbergen Dubble as if I were Henry the 8th. This beer drinks down resembling Rochefort 6,I reckon.Or maybe a watered down Rochefort 8,but without the street cred : I got crud loads of burnt chocolate...spices and dry backdrops Is that Forest Gateau in the aromas or something ?. I think this is coolio. spkevin (15), Doetinchem, Netherlands Aug 18, 2008 bottle. pours a dark ruby red colour with a good head. sweet aroma. taste is bitter/sweet and the aftertaste is very good.
