clear, surprisingly light. cherry brown. no head. liquid hard candy. very sweet, nutty. better than those awful ones i had here last time (la trappe, though ironically enough i gave that dubbel a higher overall score)

Bottle. Alcohol and malt aromas. Nice dark, but translucent color. The alcohol is very well hidden. Decent head that remains. A bit sweet for my taste.

Reddish brown in color. Smells like a fruity nut brown ale. Pretty darn good. Cherry and cola flavors.

Sampled at Barrios’ Sausage Fest 2010! Pours a clear brown with fair tan head. Nice sweet and sour quality. Great classic dubbel flavors. Very good.

Pours a lacing beige head with a deep ruby-copper body. Aromas of caramel and bread. Flavor is caramel, bread, some yeast and earth. Finish is a little dry and caramel.

12oz bottle from Orland Park Binny’s single rack. Pours dark reddish brown with thick light tan head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, dark fruits, chocolate and some malt. Flavors of sweet malts, chocolate, caramel, toffee, candied sugars and dark fruits. Mouthfeel is a little thin. Very drinkable brew but lack complexity and could use a bigger malt bill. Decent.

Dark brown opaque pour with a light tan head. Fruit cake like aroma, dark fruits with a yeasty breadlike backing. Dried fruit flavor, with some spice and a hint of brandy. Medium body, good beer but lacking a little complexity.

Bottle. Copper-red pour. Great aroma of malt, biscuit, fruit, and caramel. More of the same on taste. Pretty good stuff.

A fan of abbey beers i enjoyed this. A fruity undertone was somewhat noticeable. Alcohol very hidden. An underlying sweetness that provided a nice contrast for the bitter flavor of the malts.
