Very dark amber colour with big head. Aroma is sour, some mould mushroom and yeast. The sour part is dominant in the taste, but along comes the fruity sweetness (with forest berries and apple).

330ml bottle. Clear dark copper color. Tiny size, thin head, disappears. Caramel, prunes, raisins, sweet, alcohol, grainy, sour notes in aroma. Metallic, sourish, caramel, wheat, fruity, papery taste. Covers alcohol quite well. Crisp mouthfeel.

Droog bitterige afdronk.

0,33L bottle, BB 10.12.15. Pours clear dark ruby with beige head. The head stays. Aroma is malt, dark fruits, caramel, vinous notes. Flavor is sweet, malt, dark fruits, caramel, red wine like notes, yeast, and some alcohol. Finish is dry bitter with some warming alcohol. Overall: nice brew, but I don’t enjoy it as much as I usually enjoy quads.

Calisky (1203) - ALSACE, FRANCE - DEC 10, 2014

Pours dark caramel in colour. Aroma is of malt syrup and dark fuit. Taste carries these through, but crystal malt type flavours predominate, perhaps too much sool. Not as sweet as I expected, with a pleasing dryness at the end. Probably good with food? Not bad, but had better.

Bottled. A clear amber beer with a medium sized creamy white head. Aroma is malty caramel with some spices. Taste is sweet and fruity with some mild bitterness in the end. A bit too sweet

Aroma of malt, caramel, sweet and overripe dark fruits, sugar, raisins. Flavour is sickeningly sweet and alcoholic. Sticky mouthfeel. Nasty artificial aspect to it that totally ruins this beer. Overrated junk.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 18E). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 10:43 <2>. AROMA: sweet malty profile with caramel notes. alcohol notes with a bit of solventy character. some esters but faint. APPEARANCE: deep amber color with ruby highlights. translucent. large tanned head with good retention. alcohol derived viscosity with lacing. TASTE: sweet malty profile with some esters reminiscent of dried grapes. strong alcohol presence almost solventy. some caramel notes. low bitterness and a semi-dry finish. no hop flavours. PALATE: medium body with high carbonation. some alcohol warmth noticeable. OVERALL: a belgian strong ale that lacks complexity.

Aroma is kind of strange. Not unlike the rancid sweat. It tastes like regular grimbergen with an added rosted malt
