Nickls (1297) - SE DC, Washington DC, USA - JUN 25, 2010
(Old BA rate - bottle) Poured with a generous two finger bubbly and frothy pure white head; clear, light orangey-yellow hue; decent head retention. Nice spiciness; not nearly as sweet/sugary in the aroma as others in the style; hint of vanilla; touch of booze as well; sweet fresh fruits (green grapes and pears) in the aroma. Pretty solid taste; but not nearly as complex as others in the range; light sweetness; faintly yeasty; flavorful vanilla note; nice enough; warming. Lightish, and a little sticky; very prickly and lively carbonation and very much within the style range. Nice drinking

Clear golden colour with huge white head. Sweet caramel, Belgian yeast, malt, mild hops and some alcohol in aroma. Malt, yeast, some alcohol and some mild smoke (?) in flavour. Balanced malty body.

Pours a slightly hazy, light yellow colour with a light-weight, frothy white head. Aroma has notes of light malts, sugar, yeast, tart and a little lemon. Taste is of sugar, sweet malts, orange and some yeasty characteristics as well. Slightly oily on the palate, medium duration, mild carbonation.

Abio (1058) - Waasland, BELGIUM - MAY 23, 2010
A little darker then the "blonde" it seems. More foam and holds very nice. More sour smell then the blonde. Something inside smells like rotten fruit. Fruity but sour taste. Nicely bitter aftertaste. Not a top-beer but drinkeable.

Bottle. Pours out gloden blond with a dense white head. Little carbonization, reasonable lacing. Aromas of grain, hops. Fresh, somewhat herbal. Full bodied taste, bitter, herbs, long full finish. Nice tripel.

KyotoLefty (3480) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAY 4, 2010
Bottle about 1 year over its "drink by." Almost amber gold with a medium head. Malty aroma, honey and biscuit, tart citrus, with sour oranges and spice. Sweet honey malt flavor, no hops left but a nice, tart tang to balance. Minerals and nice fruit. Would be better fresh, I think, but still a good tripel.
