330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Clear chestnut to mahogany colour, moderate to low off-white to beige head. Aroma with strong notes of caramel and brown sugar, also notes of mild Christmas spices. Medium sweet flavour, again with caramel and mild Christmas spices. Is this really the same beer as Brassin de Noël (ABV is the same), or is the recipe slightly different?

First winter beers are in the stores now! I bought some bottles at Hoogvliet Supermarket. This beer is very dark, almost black. It was poured out in a Gerardus glass. The taste is good, a bit sweet aftertaste. Some brown sugar. This is warming in winter. It must be a bit colder than now to enjoy this beer fully. Nice winter beer.

from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier - pours a clear dark ruby-brown beer with a chaotic but long lasting beige foam left; aroma of dark fruits syrup and brown sugars; sweet, full-bodied and quite sticky; herbal, notes of cola and molasses; quite lot of residual sweetness

pours dark red brown, small head, disappearing rather quickly. aroma smells light caramel, dough, cough drop, yeasty. sweet arrival, rather shallow and superficial taste, develops into light sourness combined with caramel and brown Sugar. rather thin on the palate, doesn’t last very long. flat beer with poor complexity, not at all warming as a winter beer. lacks depth and spicy mouthfeel ...

Aroma: melanoidins, crusty bread, dark malts. Appearance: clear amber color, beige head. Appearance: low bitterness, dried fruits, dark malts, smooth, slightly acid, sweet. Palate: medium body and medium carbonation, sweet finish. Overall: Strange beer, quite sweet, some esters, but that’s all
