Once upon a time in the land of Bavaria, a darkness fell upon the beer in the town of Munich. But have no fear – this darkness was born of a toasted malt that produces a bready chocolate flavor. This full-bodied brew is now known as a Munich Dunkel. Our dunkel is made with just enough hoppy bitterness to scare away any overt sweetness. Then it is carefully lagered to produce a cleaness that no one will shudder at.

A dry, crisp and medium-bodied Dunkel with nice roasted malt notes. It tastes particularly clean and "well-made", which I find difficult to describe.

On tap at The Mayor of Old Town. Clear amber appearance with a foamy white head. Malty, toasty and grainy aroma with light earthy hop notes. Similar flavor, adding bready malts and a hint of chocolate. Clean, mild malt sweetness balanced by a mild hop bitterness. Nice and easy to drink too.

Infected? Gushes out of the bottle so maybe that is what Tmavys do? Sweet and lightly acidic. Malty and bready and really missing a nice toasty malt presence or hops to balance the syrupy nature of this one.

Bottle. Pours with a hazed deep brown hued body with a creamy tan head. Aromas are of toasty, nutty, biscuity, deep malt tones, light sulfur, clean fermentation, a slight floral hop note, raisin bread. Flavors are bready, dry, medium-balanced bitter, raisin bread, toasty, raisin bran cereal. Clean, medium bodied, toasty, very light roast. Fuller carbonation.

Dark brown coloured body with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, pears, apples, caramel and quite a bit of vanilla. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive peanut and hazelnut flavour throughout with a little emphasis on the roasted malt and the caramel sweetness. No hops at all to speak of. Aftertaste is a good showing of the nuts and sweetness with not much malt nor vanilla popping through at all. Overall, a nice dunkles with some solid sweetness, but a lot of nutty flavours as well. I sampled this pint on draught at a bar in Littleton, Colorado on 06-June-2014 with haddon90!

On tap at the Colorado Room. Appearance: finger khaki head, soapy, copper to light brown color, clear, ok lacing. Aroma: molasses, roast malt, light fruity, earthy. Palate: medium body, average carbonation, light bitter finish, light sticky. Taste: rich malty sweet with light bitter on end; caramel sweetness too. Overall, very drinkable, good balance for style, good beer.
