Once upon a time in the land of Bavaria, a darkness fell upon the beer in the town of Munich. But have no fear – this darkness was born of a toasted malt that produces a bready chocolate flavor. This full-bodied brew is now known as a Munich Dunkel. Our dunkel is made with just enough hoppy bitterness to scare away any overt sweetness. Then it is carefully lagered to produce a cleaness that no one will shudder at.

A dry, crisp and medium-bodied Dunkel with nice roasted malt notes. It tastes particularly clean and "well-made", which I find difficult to describe.

Not a great beer, a little boring. Pours a nice deep Amber with little head. Smells good, of green apple and fruit. Taste is basic, with some green apple, fruity undertones but not much else. A little flat. Had in the can.

On tap at The Mayor of Old Town. Clear amber appearance with a foamy white head. Malty, toasty and grainy aroma with light earthy hop notes. Similar flavor, adding bready malts and a hint of chocolate. Clean, mild malt sweetness balanced by a mild hop bitterness. Nice and easy to drink too.
