4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 1, 2011 Tap @ brewery. Hazy light brown appearance with a fairly small whitish tan head. It really looks like a dunkelweizen and the brewer explained that it’s basically a Hefeweizen brewed with rye in place of wheat. Yeasty rye smelling nose. Flavor is a sweet yeasty rye malty body not suprisingly tasting related to a Hefeweizen minus the wheat. The yeast adds some complexity with some notes of light fruits, particularly banana. Tastes like they use a yeast strain typically used in German Hefeweizen. Great malty body with a very interesting and somewhat complex flavor. Nice!
