COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
GOLDEN HOUR is the light at the end of the tunnel. Following in the authentic tradition of Belgian saisons, ours is dry and spritzy with a billowy white head of Belgian lace. For local terroir, we use spelt grown in Upstate NY and malted by our friend Andrea Stanley at Valley Malt. With its subtle nutty flavor, the spelt combines beautifully with the spiciness of our favorite farmhouse yeast and the refined, pungent aromas of German Tettnang and Hallertau hops. Golden Hour is a beer for those seeking respite from the winter doldrums.

Pours hazy golden with moderate frothy white head which fades quickly. Aroma is light citrus (lemon), spicy yeast, earthy tartness, and low floral hops. Flavor is biscuity/grainy malt with slight funk and initial medium-high bitterness. Medium-low floral hops. Moderate tartness. Medium-full body with medium carbonation. Dry finish and long aggressive bitterness in the aftertaste.

BLADT (577) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - MAR 19, 2014
Draft from St. Gambrinus. Cloudy, pale hay color in glass. Smell is french bread, lemon zest, and well kept barn. Earthy. A little funk. Taste has some pepper, but mostly a pleasant yeastiness with citrus brightness. Bitterness is there, but does not linger. Light on the palate.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours a very hazy, almost whitish golden with a white head. Aroma is slight funk with fruitiness and strange grains. I don’t really know what spelt is supposed to be about, but this comes off as a nice saison with small amounts of funk, but a hefty amount of fruitiness, with just a bit of spice.

draft at Blue Monk, ever do slightly cloudy lemon juice yellow pour, some lemon citrus, bready, slight wet cardboard. No idea what spelt tastes like. Nice & easy drinking. Another nice beer from Grimm

Pours slightly hazy golden with a tiny white lacing. Aroma is citrus with some bready notes. Great fresh taste, lemon, wheat, I guess spelt, some bitterness kicks in and then mellows out. Good yeasty malty finish. Refreshing and enjoyable.
