3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Mekong. Properly thick haze, very slightly darker yellow than some other wits. Aroma is grainy wheat. Flavor is a match. Some very faint spice notes on the finish, but more yeast driven than the traditional coriander. No apparent citrus notes either. Although maybe not a traditional wit in some ways, it was a refreshing wheat beer that worked with the hot weather outside.

Bottle at the Great Japan Beer Festival, Osaka, 2011.
A typical Belgian Wit, very spicy, with orange. Sweeter than it should be. Not bad, but not really a good wit—too sweet, too much spice, but ok.

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle (25 cl) from La Marché de Nathalie Brasserie, Bouillon, Belgium. Cloudy milk golden, large rocky white head. Overwhelming spicy aroma with soapy and perfumy coriander notes, and with a presumably nice phenolic and estery yeast character hovering in the background. Medium bodied and soft. Dry with low bitterness. This could propbably be a very good Wit with more reasonable amount of spices. Right now, it’s just a mess.
