The bottle I had was called Gritty’s Best Brown Ale. This is a pretty dry and hoppy brown ale - good flavor.

(Bottle). Sweet malty and caramel aroma. Medium brown color, with a small head that lasts a while. Flavor attempts to be malty and caramel/toffee, but succeeds only imperfectly. Something is out of balance. Slightly unpleasant finish.

Was vacationing in Maine and bumped into Gritty’s. Excellent straight from the tap, but not as good from the bottles.

Light tasting, light bodied brown from Maine’s very own Gritty’s. A brown ale for novice brownie drinkers. Nothing to write home about.

The aroma is papery with malt, chocolate, caramel, and a hint of hops. The appearance is light brown with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. The beer is very plain with nothing to it.
