A mediocre brown ale. Not very complex. The finish is a little off. Not the best beer from this brewery.

(Rating #1802)

It stays crunchy even in milk....
Nose has plum, light brown sugar, crisp hops, strawberry, maple. Deep copper, off white (dirty) head. Flavor is brown sugar, maple, somewhat dusty malt, a bit of fruit (cherry) in the finish.

12oz into a pint. Pours a caramel brown shaded picture, taste is light caramel, browned malts, chewy and dry granola, and no real hop presence. A sub par brown here with nothing particuarlly outstanding. I dont know much about htis lions head thing, only the happy grittys guy on the best brown label. At least hes happy about the brown.

Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. Off-white head quickly recedes to sicken rim. Butterscotch aromas. Dry dark caramel and nuts upfront turning slightly sour in the lasting bitter butterscotch finish.

on tap at grittys. medium brown color, nice head. not to strong of an aroma. very bitter in the flavor, not alot of malts, very dry and bitter hop flavors. this could have used more roasted malty flavors to balance the bitterness. it seemed as if the bitterness overwealmed the other flavors. average beer, but its 1$ cheeper than the other beers a grittys.

Bottle. Pours a brune body with an off white head. Malty body with caramel and earth y nutty tones. Sweeter hard candy coffee tones with a light bitter finish. Thin and lighter than i’d like.

Pint on tap at the brewpub in Portland Maine. Clear brown color with small off white head and minimal lacing. Nose was mild caramel, malt with a slight hop background. Flavor was same as nose. Another brew from a college/tourist town that is designed to be interesting to people that normally drink swill. It wasn’t bad mind you, but bland and uninspiring.

Bottle. Clear, light ruby brown pour, with a fizzy 2-finger tan head that fades quickly. Aromas of raspberry toffee, soft cocoa, caramel, and sweet dark fruit. Flavor is raspberry, slight milk chocolate, and buttery caramel. Thin. Nothing great.
