Not a bad beer. I should mention that the waitress at Gritty’s in Auburn said that it was light in alcohol only, and tasting it, I’d have to say thats correct. Lighter flavor than some (like the Best Bitter I had before this one) but flavorful and well-balanced nonetheless. Hops dominate, but do not overpower, as there’s enough of a malt sweetness backbone to support it. Rather good, I’d definitely have this one again

(Rating #1804)

(Draft @ Freeport brewpub) Pours clear light gold/yellow. Was filled pretty much straight to the top of the shaker so barely room for any head and of course served ice cold. Aroma of very light malt sweetness, maybe slight hint of bread, but actually very little aroma at all. Mouthfeel light, sort of smooth but some light pebbliness. Actually also felt a little dry. Some very light rings of lacing. Flavor initially had a nice yeasty freshness which held my interest for a little while, along with a surprising bit of hop fruitiness that appeared. But then all soon faded into a bland, very low flavor profile affair. Became papery tasting and ultra-boring. Had to get this because it was the only thing on the draft list I hadn’t rated (besides a raspberry version of this gem).

Good beer. Had on tap at Gritty’s pub. It’s refreshing and light, doesnt have a strong taste but it does have a light subtle one that makes it better than your average light beer.

On tap at the brewbup summer of ’05. My father actually ordered this beer, because I have troubles ordering light beers. Regardless I tried this and it was a pretty nice refreshing and bubbly yellow beer. It’s not what I usually go for, but I can see why they made it. It’s perfect for macro drinkers heading to the micro pub and that are out of thier element. I let him quickly have this beer and I continued to enjoy my bitter off the cask :)

[on tap at brewery]
Yes, this is a light beer. Yes, it is, therefore, watery. But it’s a light ALE. And it’s good. Not as good as Gritty’s other beers, but well balanced and unoffensive. Almost clear straw with only a wispy thin top that does form some nice lace. Dry, lemony light caramel aroma with no hops. Crisp yet aley flavour with gentle caramel and appropriate bitterness with only detectible hops flavour. Soda watery feel, medium carbonation, clean and crisp and light bodied.

(Draught) Sampled on tap at the brewpub in Freeport, ME. Pours a medium, white, frothy head with a ver clear gold body. Nose is void of most everything? The flavour is thin and watery with tones of straw and bread. Below average offering.

On draught at Gritty’s Brewpub in Portland, 6/25/2005. Served cold in a shaker. Moderately deep, hay yellow, very clear and with plenty of bubbles rising, large bubbles that is. Creates a bubbly film along the top, not quite what I would call head, and quickly recedes to nothing after it has breathed and warmed, with no lacing. Aroma is of light pale grains, touches of light sourdough, perhaps, no fruity esters from the yeast, no hops. Flavor is intensely watery. Not exactly thin, but just mostly water in the brewing process, with only some light, dry grains. Tastes good enough for what is there, like a bit of sourdough bread dough, hints of sweaty hay and then just a fade to water, light dry barley notes lingering. Texture is lightly peppered with carbonation on a very wet, filling background of water. No off flavors, but just not a lot of flavor period. No reason to ever order this when you get their lovely cask bitter any time as well.

Tap at grittys in Portland. Light straw color with modest head. Aroma is flowery with a hint of hops. Flavor is light with some corn, toasted malts, and some hops. Smooth taste and refreshing. Pretty good for a light beer.
