2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 DuffMan (4429) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, - AUG 8, 2006
I tried this as part of an 8 beer tasting tray at the pub. The tasting tray is an excellent value, featuring Big Head brown, Grumpy Bear Wheat, Powder Hound pilsener, Rutting Elk red, Beavertail Raspberry, Randy Goat pilsener, and two seasonal brews that are new: Bloody Hell Pale Ale and Burrowing Badger Summer Ale. This one was a cloudy pale yellow with a strong aroma of raspberry jam. The raspberry flavour was not all that subtle, and had more of a sweet candy flavour like the Rockets you get at Halloween. Still, not a bad lighter style for summer, and on this day in particular (28 degrees in the mountains is HOT!).
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 piscator34 (1644) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - MAY 17, 2012
On draft at the brewpub. Pink gold in colour with moderate carbonation. the strong raspberry aroma dominates the nose. There is a bit more of a balance between the raspberry and light malt notes in the mouth, although the fruit takes on an unfortunate medicinal note. Light bodied with a long finish. My least favorite of the Grizzly Paw beers that I tried.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 reebtogi (2197) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 28, 2011
341mL bottle poured a cloudy pinkish golden color with big off-white head and some fine lacing. Aroma is predominantly raspberries with some wheat and yeast. Taste is tart raspberries up front with some wheat and a fruity sweetness in the finish. A very interesting look to this beer, but the taste offers little to be desired.
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 solidfunk (662) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 21, 2011
Very sour taste, faint notions of raspberry, no after taste really. A good beer to give a miss, elements just don’t come together for me. On tap at Grizzly’s
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scubaguy (230) - Alberta, CANADA - OCT 24, 2010
It pours a real dark cloudy golden color with some peach hue’s with a long lasting white head. It has quite a bit of carbonation and some patchy lacing.
On the nose i am getting wheat but a dominate raspberry presence
The flavor is huge on the raspberry front. But there is decent, wheat, yeasty notes as well some tartness. But as far as raspberry beer it’s not bad. It is what it is.
It finishes with a lingering sweetness. I am not really getting any hops coming through. For me this is to sweet to be a session beer. But after a good meal it would make a nice liquid dessert.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Powertrip (845) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 30, 2010
Sample Tasting: Cloudy pink. Nose: tart tangy Aroma: Toasted malt, ripe raspberry, short finish.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Cirrhosis (932) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 11, 2009
"Brew appears to be a cloudy peach color, this looks strange and unexpected. Cap is thick and long lasting. Sour raspberry aroma that’s very fake and powdery not remotely interesting. Taste also fake and powdery with a wheat back ground. Taste is very simple and fake also slightly sour, no real enjoyment out of drinking this but wasn’t offensive either."
1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 fiulijn (10421) - Como, ITALY - AUG 4, 2008
Draught at the brewpub Muddy blond color. It has a light aroma of berries, not bad. But the flavors don’t mix well, mainly because of missing sweetness and too much bitterness.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 tunneler (130) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - JAN 24, 2008
On tap at the brewery, part of a sampler. Not a very well balanced, too sweet with an almost raspberry-seed flavor at times
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 pintbypint (1611) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 17, 2007
Draft, at brewpub. Hazy gold with a thin white cap. A little bit of light raspberry fruit in the aroma. Flavour was tarter than expected, some raspberry notes and grain flavours. Light bodied. Not really belgian styled, more of an American Wheat with fruit.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ughsmash (5836) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 31, 2006
On tap at Grizzy Paw. Poured hazy golden with a short white head and lots of lacing. Muted, sweetened raspberries with tart lemon and wheaty notes in the aroma. Raspberry seeds join tart lemon and wheat in the quite sweet flavor. Felt only decent on the palate... little tacky at the finish. Not bad... not good.
