Huge roast flavour and body. Created similarly to a traditional Irish Oatmeal Stout, this dark ale has heaps of character and will easily substitute for a full-blown meal. Received the Silver medal at Brewtopia ’98.

On tap 3 oz. sampler at the Grizzly Paw Brew Pub in Canmore, Alberta. Opaque, very dark mahogany with a trivial head sparse lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and caramel. Taste of chocolate, coffee, caramel, nuts and roasted malt. Medium body and medium/low carbonization. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Rating #810 - December 6, 2013 - Beer #6 in the Craft BeerAdvent Calendar - Bottle 5.2% 8 oz. on draught at Beer Revolution in #yeg. 5.9%. Dark brown pour with a weak off white head. Cocoa and vanilla on the nose, and big coffee earthy malt notes. Taste is very rich in coffee and chocolate, mild vanilla bean. Balanced for a sweet stout, very palatable indeed. Nice.

Another advent day! Smells of malts and coffee. Could taste the sweetness and the oatmeal in this one but not overpowering. It was really smooth and overall a great beer.

BeerAdvent 2013 Day Six. Pours Very Dark Brown, opaque, not much head. Nose of chocolate, coffee. Flavour is same with roasted malt. Chocolate is sweet, coffee is medium roast robusta espresso. Smooth palate. Good stuff; must be great fresh on tap.

A nice dark black beer with a good-size foam. The foam did not last long, but it also did not get in the way of the beer. A nice chocolate smell with hints of sweetness. The taste did not match the smell as there was a bit of bitterness that I was not expecting and did not really go with the rest of the beer. It had a good finish as was a good stout. I did not finish it quickly which is a sign of a decent but not great beer.

Pours black with barely any head. Aroma mostly of coffee and malt. Taste is a really nice blend of coffee, vanilla, caramel, maybe cinnamon but heavily coffee. Finishes very sweet, but i really enjoy this. Great work.

Advent calendar day 6. Pours black with almost no head. Coffee and roasted malts. Lots of flavor. The best of the calendar so far, hands down.

Craft beer advent calendar day 6! Pours an opaque black with a large light brown head that quickly settles to a spotty covering and leaves very little lace. Aroma is coffee and sweet cream, smooth chocolate, and soft roasted maltiness all mixed together quite nicely. Flavour is roasted malts, coffee, cream, cocoa, mild bitterness(kinda a dry dark malt type of bitterness), and a velvety mouthfeel. This would be even better on nitro. Fantastic beer, we’ll done grizzly paw!
