hopdog (4564), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA May 6, 2006 On tap at the Grizzly Peak Brew Pub. Poured a deep orange/copper color with a small sized off white head. Floral aromas with some caramel. Floral tastes with caramel and oranges. Lots of lacing coated the glass. Creamy body. muzzlehatch (4425), Burlington, Vermont, USA Sep 17, 2006 Cask sample at the brewpub, early August 2006. Lasting creamy near-white head tops the bubbly clear brass body, thick sheet lacing coats the glass....lots of caramel malt and dry grassy/earthy hops, clay-like qualities in the fine nose....fairly light, fluffy body, moderate hoppiness throughout (E Kent Goldings?), earthy and lightly fruity (cherry-apple)...nicely modulated sweet-dry balance, low natural carbonation. heemer77 (3667), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jun 16, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. The body was dark copper with a white head. The aroma was malty bread with some caramel and oranges. The taste was burnt almonds with some black tea. A fairly bitter finish. ClarkVV (3547), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Jun 10, 2003 Dark red color. Smooth earthy aroma. Nice velvety taste. Some warm earthy notes came out and I enjoyed this beer which had ample malt but not enough hops. Body was only slightly lacking. Not sure where the old/dry cellared notes came in and didnt think that they were appropriate to a fresh beer. Tmoney99 (3537), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 9, 2005 Draft at Grizzly Peak. Dark amber color with medium head that diminshed quickly. Well balanced malt and hop aroma. Medium body with smooth texture. Flavor was also well balanced like aroma with a short finish.
