heemer77 (3611), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jun 16, 2008 The body was black with a tan colored head. The aroma was chocolate with some coffee. There was also a woody hint. The taste was woody and dry with some coffee. A little thin. jscherer (6), USA does not count Dec 20, 2007 Draft Nitro tap, chocolate, roasty, nuts, smoke, black, cloudy, brown foam, Great taste I could sit at GP bar all night and drink these. In fact I often do. Dogbrick (2166), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 18, 2007 Sample at the brewpub: Pours opaque black with a compact dark brown head that has good retention. Constant sheet of lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee along with some chocolate and malt. Medium-bodied and dry with roasted coffee and light hops flavor, as well as a bit of dark chocolate. The finish is dry and roasty with a short-lived hops aftertaste. Above average, but not by a whole lot. Sammy (2969), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 30, 2007 Black with a white creamy head from the nitro, lacey. Great smoke but over the top bitterness. Did not get any finsih or aftertaste of sweetness. Hmm...what about on cask? Roastiness not what I would expect from another Irish stout but altogether, maybe it’s the nitro, not my favorite stout.
mds (2111), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 31, 2006 Draught. Dark brown with ruby tinges and a creamy mocha head. The aroma is minerally and accompanied by bread, sugar, and faint roast. Seems like a lot of the beers from this pub suffer from wateriness and this one is no exception. Plenty of faint caramel, weak coffee and some dry chocolate. Not great for a stout but it’s one of the better brews I had during this visit to the pub. Easy drinking.
Tasted at the brewpub on December 27, 2006.
