2008 MiBGF (Sour Bear Wood Aged porter) not sure if it was suppose to be a sour ale but it appears they are at least describing it as such...

Mahogany hued with an okay frothy off-white head. The aroma has notes of sour cherries and lactic sour cream, walnut, chocolate, vanilla, and floral hops. The taste is lactic and acicic with a nice chocolate covered fruit character in reserve. Roasty and nutty finish, not much barrel influence other than the sourness. The mouth feel is refreshing and soft. This is yummy even if a likely mistake.

With all due respect to some of the other comments posted here they are missing the point! It is sour and funky on purpose. You guys should really go out and get a broader knowledge of beer styles. Really, there is more out there than IPAs. Buy something else next time your at the beer store and broaden your palate. This is a great example of a wood aged (meaning put in the barrel with the intention of adding the funky and sour tastes) ale.

had this at the third annual MBG winter beer festival...the numbers are reflective of the sampling, however i added no notes. my apologies. i do remember this as being skunked (diacetyl, sourness)

2008 MBG Winter Beer Fest. Medium-bodied with roasted malts and modest bourbon characteristics, unfortunately overwhelmed by lactic infection. My rating is generous. Too bad this went sour.
