Bottle brought from Darmstadt by my wife. Pours light golden with a nice thin head. The aroma is initally malty but is more metallic later on. Taste is malty and grainy, but there is also more bitterness than one would expect from a Helles. Medium-full mouthfeel, lingering bitterness. Drinkable and passable but nothing special.

Draught, Talbot Taphouse, Ripley, Derbyshire, England. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When it gives you hens-teeth-rare-for-the-UK German beer, rate it. Too flat but plenty of breakfast flavours, all semi-sweet and gentle malt and bacon. Apart from the last bit. An agreeable hell. Like Meadowhall at ten o’clock on a weekday morning.
