Good, smooth, has a bit of character for a macrobrew. Nice clean finish. Beats Heineken hands down.

Aroma hoppy and a bit husky, but not bad. Color is a medium-gold with white head that dissipates fairly quickly, but leaves some latticed lace behind. Countenance is decidedly on the light side: low carbonation (in itself a distinguishing mark) with nicely hopped taste but little malt contribution. Slight tang in finish that lingers in an unflattering way. Still, better than any American macrobrewed lager out there.

Very low carbonation. Watery. Like a Danish discount pilsener.

Beats a Heineken, falls short of an Urquell. The swing top pints put it above any massed produced north German lagers. For the most part solid (if you’re partial to grassy skunk), great with a grilled steak.

Fairly decetn imported macro-brew. Crisp taste, but as usual, leans towards the vegetal and skunky side. Gotto love the bottles!!

Green bottle = skunky. Much better if you can find it on tap. Have never tried the 5L mini-kegs.

Near the top of my lager list. This beer gets extra points because of the fun bottle which can certainly entertain you as you drink it. A little strange at first, but this is the kind of beer that grows on you.

Skunk coming off the bottle immediately after opening. Turned to a dusty, slightly floral nose. Nice gold color. Light malt taste and medium bitter finish. Thin-ish, but with a smooth texture. Decent and harmless. The bottle is wonderful in and of itself.

I had this side-by-side with Carling Black Label lager (both from a cask) and, you know what?, they both suck. They were so very similar--just minute differences of sweetness and bitterness--I can’t understand how Grolsch can rate nearly a full point higher (by today’s scores). (on tap at Head of the River pub, Oxford)
