An averaage international lager. Often comes in a useful flip-top bottle and quality fluctuates.

UPDATED: APR 30, 2006 Sept, 2002 Grolsch do make a range of beers, some of which are apparently very good, but the one for which they are known is this fancy green bottled swing top lager. The current advertising emphasises the lagering process with the line: ’We only let you drink it when it’s ready.’ As with so many heavily advertised products this is a case of image over content. Not that the drink is bad - it’s an acceptable global lager with a decent malt body which finishes with a stewed bitterness but is otherwise quite refreshing when drunk cold - it’s just that it aint that good. Great bottle - shame about the lager![1.9]
June, 2003 Good malty body. Upped a few points. [2.2]
Feb, 2006 Keg @ <a href=http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/11/117 White hart, Drury Lane. A cool, biting lager with some noticable hop bitterness. Drinkable, if a bit fizzy. [2.3]

Worst beer ever! Mine must have been skunked, because that’s exactly what it tasted like. I have nothing more to say.

Flavor is matly and slightly hoppy, but is obscured by the green bottle skunkyness. Bad bottle? Average lager, but this one was UNDRINKABLE

Had a few pint bottles of this while watching the Steelers get tooled by the Raiders. Very fresh and pleasant subtle nose of vanilla, ginger, spices and perfume. Pours a light golden with some floaties. The huge wheat like head is white and creamy, mostly lasting and has good lacing. The flavor starts mild with a sweet and warm alcohol middle, and finishes balanced with mild acidity. The light creamy body is lively and smooth, and feels alcoholic at the finish. A very solid lager.

It may be because I love the bottles for home brewing or that the lasting hop flavour brings back memories of Kellerman’s Alex Delaware novels but I like this beer!
