Clear yellow brownish colour with hints of onions and sellery, and a bitter aftertaste.

Can. This is the beer you tasted when your father let you taste beer for the first time when you were a kid. Bitter, unremittingly dry, and definitely defines "an acquired taste." I can just picture the look of revulsion on my young face if I tried this beer for the first time as a child. It would be enough to scare off a kid from ever drinking beer again. However, now that I have indeed acquired a taste for beer, I can appreciate this brew for what it is: a typical Dutch beer, extremely dry and surprisingly drinkable.

,5l pour from tap into a pint glass at a bar in Kazakhstan. Clear, yellow, super fluffy off-white head. Muted nose, bitter bordering on burnt. Body is medium, a bit grainy. Taste is bitter, woody, a bit bready. Leans heavy on being bitter without offering much balance or flavor.

500ml can. Somehow I went all these years ignoring Grolsch. I missed out on nothing. Pours a pale fizzy yellow with a one finger white head. Lots of sugary notes aroma-wise, sweet malt, light candy, icing sugar, with some faint straw and a REALLY faint resinous note. Taste wise, sweet up front with mild mineral notes, light Wonderbread like notes into faint fruitiness, mineral notes, and a pretty tame finish. For what it costs, it’s fine, if maybe a little sweet, but there are SO many other cheap Euro-pilsener’s out there that blow this away for me to consider it again.

11.2 oz. bottle. Pours clear golden, solid white head. Aroma was grain, corn and grassy. Taste had a bitterness to it.

Competencia de Heineken en Holanda. Rubia, suave, premium lager. Sabor ligeramente dulce, regusto con un toque de amargor.

0.45 l bottle purchased at a random Tesco. Golden colored, with quickly disappearing head. Sweet aroma & taste. Not refreshing and not so good imo.

Crap beer -- but for the price it’s 4/5 stars. So while I rate it as not that good--on a cost-adjusted basis it’s fucking amazing. I drink it all the time. and it lists its ingredients which immediately means I prefer it to most north american beers which are, as far as I can tell, carbonated corn syrup.

Fliptop bottled, 0.45 l. Shows clear golden with a small fluffy white head on it, which diminishes with time completely. Nose of honey, herbs... Aroma brings hay, honey, hints of bread and herbs, mouthfeel is slick. Dry, herbal hoppy finish...
