great hefe pour, lovely aroma of bananas, cloves, and some light bubblegum. Great flavour! the banana, and clove esters are perfect, amazing example of the style, who knew the dutch could make sucha great hefe.

Good, slightly above average weizen beer, looks good, typically hazy with firm white head. Lightly spiced, and has a nice acidic edge to it, clean and refreshing. Better than I expected from Grolsch.

Bottle picked up at Morrisson, Ayelsbury, Bucks 13-06-08 Pours hazy light golden with decent white foamy head. Typical wheat beer aroma’s and flavours though maybe not as strident as some in this catergory, quite refreshing and really not bad at all for Grolsch, there is a nice little citrus bite to this and whilst the banana can be just a little sweet this wasn’t as sweet as I expected, not bad at all. I’m really quite pleased that Grolsch can do something like this and may buy a few of these for the summer.

450ml swing top bottle from the LCBO. Pours a nice hazy yellowish white with a smaller than usual white head for a Hefe. Aroma is typical weizen, nothing spectacular, as is the flavour, more of the same, just a nice simple wheat beer. Not a bold example of a less than bold style, just classic everything Hefey you can think of. A little off in the finish with some weird yeastiness, other than that you’re looking at, ladies and gentlemen, wheat beer, you’ll know what to expect.

Glowing golden with a large, pillowy white head. Sweet banana, spices, yeast, and some more fruit in the aroma. Medium, lightly carbonated mouth. Flavor is a bit light. Yeast, fruit, spice, and banana. I’m pleasantly surprised with this hefe, even though it’s not all that amazing.

Bottle 50cl, bought from ASDA. The beers pours a cloudy golden/yellow with a large white head and a fruity aroma The taste has wheat, citrus and banana. This beer is good, but a bit sweet for a hefenweizen.

A very pleasant wheat beer, brought in to the LCBO. Inviting fresh wheaty aroma, with some citrus. Well balanced, on the sweet side. Enormous head, which is how I pour it, and an easy mouthfeel. Some creaminess from the foam, the body was middling. A bit of citrus. What Grolsch can do.

Pours a very fine carbonation and pretty blond color, wafting aromas that taste follows. Mouthfeel is downright sexy and dead-on for the style. Very fresh taste suggesting it has not been pasteurized. Do not care either way - it’s still like a good German Hefe right from the tap. I hope it stays this great & is not just an extra-good batch they spent more effort on to break the market, LOL! THIS is why I drink hefe: light banana esters and a hint of clovey phenolics, some citric acidity to balance, and not a hint of anything bitter or funky on the finish. It just rolls away leaving a hint of bubblegum on the end, no junky sweetness. A supreme pleasure and exactly what I hope for when I reach for a Weizen. Deutschland, pass auf!
