Pleasantly surprised about this beer. Great aroma and just the right amount of sweet tones. Wait for the kick, that comes a few seconds after the sip. Best beer out of Groningen I’ve had.

Pours clear red, raisin-ish brown with a big, creamy, off-white head that slowly dissipates. Sweet aroma, lots of dried fruits. Prunes, raisins, plums. Caramel, yeast and a herbal liqourice feel. And hazel nuts. Low to medium carbonation, fine oily mouthfeel. Flavour is rather vinious, quite sugary sweet. Some chocolate, maltiness, liqourice and a fair spiciness. Quite drinkable.

(33cl bottle, 9% abv) Clear, dark amber colour with a huge, frothy light-beige head. Sweet and moderately roasted malty nose with caramel, nutty-fruity notes and a present alcoholic and liquorice-spicy touch. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a slightly fizzy carbonation. Dark malty, slightly roasted taste with caramel, minimal fruity accents and an early arriving alcoholic strength; sweet-bitter malty and moderately spicy finish with a warming but also slightly disturbing alcoholic touch. Not bad in winter.
