Bottle (courtesy of Bierkrug). Chocolate malt and woody aroma. Clear chestnut color with nice head. Sweet cocoa malt, wood and lightly bitter grass flavor. Nice body. An excellent dunkel.

(bottle, with many thanks to Saarlander) Clear, dark amber colour with a beautiful and persistent foamy beige head. Slightly sweet and toasty malt aroma with a touch of cacao and a rural barnyard note. Sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Dark malty, slightly toasty taste with light notes of cacao; dry, malty and slightly bitter finish. Pretty rounded and likeable brew.

Rating from 2009: Die „Spezialität zur Bockbierzeit“. Trotzdem „nur“ ein Dunkles. Schöne dunkle, kastanienbraune Farbe, angenehmer süßlich-malziger Geruch. --> 12,13,12,11,12,12 - 12,00

Deep brown colour with a tan head. Deep caramel malt aroma. Caramel and light roasted malt flavour. An unexpected fine bitterness also.

Düsseldorf Gathering, Bottled. Very nice surprise and quality brew. Caramel and German hops in the aroma of course. Brown color, beige fine looking head, good lace. Maltsweet, light roasted, chocolater, herbal. Full, well balanced and more complex than most Dunkels.

Metallic nose, deep dark brown color, foamy beige head. Sweet toasted malt base with a dry nutty end. Medium body, clean palate. Good, but not so thrilling overall.

Thanks a lot Saarlander! Dark bronw color with a nice medium tan head. Cardboard and malt nose. Band aid, malt taste - also some papery aftertaste.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!

500 ml bottle in Germany. Deep dark brown color, with almost no head. Aroma carmel, malt and metal. Taste is of sweet rosted malts. Palate is much the same. A very nice Dunkel.

A nice surprise from this local brew, small caramel head, very warming flavor, lots of sweet coffee taste, dark gold color. A bit of a porter taste, but not as heavy! A very good beer, will drink again!
