blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Apr 4, 2008 750 ml. bottle, raisin nose and brown color, slightly watery but a nice little hop and a good tasty dubbel ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA Apr 3, 2008 Draft at Toronado. Brown colored. Aroma is sugary with some darker malts, Belgian yeast, a touch of darker fruit. Too thin. Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England Mar 31, 2008 330ml bottle at the White Horse with tashi and renffisch, 23rd March 2008. Pours brown with a frothy head. Floral and citrus notes complement the caramel malt aroma. The flavour is very similar and the palate is reasonable. An interesting Bruin but nothing special. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA Mar 27, 2008 22oz bottle from Total Wine, poured into a Duval glass. Murky light brown, I see a little yeast. Small fizzy head. Smell is candi sugar, raisin and caramel with a bit of funk. Taste it classic dubbel. Up front yeast, sugar, raisin and chocolate caramels, on the back end some hops and spice. A slight touch of sour cherry comes through as it warms. This is pretty complex for a dubbel. Well done beer.
nwilder (40), Denmark Mar 26, 2008 It pours earthy amber with a coarse light beige head. The aroma is classic Belgian ale. Sweet caramel, dark candy sugar, dried prunes, infused with a peppery element. In the mouth, it starts mildly sweet with lots of caramel, spice and apricot fruitiness. As it moves around, the mouthfeel seems light with alcohol well hidden and a good amount of carbonation playing the tongue, finishing in mild dry streak. Blom (390), Odense, Denmark Mar 26, 2008 Brown with a huge head. Spicy with notes of roasted malts, citrus, pepper and toffee.
Jukkabro (2981), Tampere, Finland Mar 24, 2008 Dark brown colored with red hints. Medium sized yellow head. Dominating spices in aroma with some cookies, hops, syrup and mild alcohol. Medium bodied. Flavor is not so sweet with spices and hops, some berry sourness also present. Carbonated palate. Aftertaste has also this ginger bready cookie tone with mild alcohol. ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Mar 20, 2008 Pours a dark reddish brown color with a small to medium sized light brown head. Nose is sour, fruity, and somewhat alcoholic. Taste is a tad bitter, fruity, sweet, malty, and dry. Not a full of a taste as I usually would like but it is super smooth and has a very nice mouthfeel.
