The cork pops, and this much hyped beer pours into my Westmalle chalice a ruby, brown like color. It smells of yeast.
I was at first extremely dissapointed by this beer, but as it warmed from cellar to room temperature, I discovered a much fuller flavor. This beer has dark fruit flavors aplenty. The finish is quite dry.
I forgot to mention the wonderful head retention of this beer. I should also mention that I paid only $7.50 for this beer.

Having this one on draft at Bodega Brew Pub downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin. Poured with and nice head with plenty of lace. Brownish color with some amber and cherry highlights. Malty body but not too thick. Some sweet/tartness. Dark fruits, toffee, and some yeasty flavors predominate. Very nice. Good finish.

Fresh 750 ml first pour in Gulden Draak tulip. Reddish brown with lasting tannish head and lace. Freshly turned earth and wood aroma with mild cinnamon bubble gum. Earthy caramel brown sugar and wood flavor with very mild raisin fruitiness and mild tobacco bitterness in finish. Medium body and carbo. Very nicely complex, amazingly refreshing and palatable. I’m blown away. I guess I wasn’t expecting much, not sure why. This is delicious.

750 Ml Bottle-Pours a cloudy brown color w/a slight head & good lacing. Sweet, fresh, Belgian aroma. Great fresh Belgian flavor of cane sugar, bread dough, yeast, dark fruit, & a touch of peat. Has a little spice to it. This was quite good, but that shouldn’t be a surprise from this brewer. Had never heard of it when I saw it in the store but bought it as soon as I saw St. Bernard on the label. Good stuff.

Bottle @ MicroBar, Clapham Nov’07. Murky reddish / brown pour. Aroma is vinous . dark fruits / chocolate / raisins. Taste is dark fruits / much the same as aroma really although doesn’t deliver that knockout blow on drinking.
